Mitchell injury

My problem with the Jazz's medical staff is that they removed Mitchell from the injury report entirely on Saturday only to declare him "Out" the next day without any setback noted.

If there was a possibility of Mitchell missing the game, that should have been communicated to everyone. He should have been on the injury report. The medical staff didn't even communicate it to the rest of the team - they all got blindsided by it hours before tipoff.

That's just straight up indefensible.
From what I gather the jazz didn’t like what they saw from how he moved around in shoot around. And I also heard that it was only Mitchell’s team working on him and they are the ones that cleared him. I could be wrong, I don’t know but the jazz staff never cleared him.

I doubt the organization would have taken him off the injury list solely because his staff cleared him. Moreover, it's really interesting they were so quick to rule he would play Wednesday if they really didn't like what they saw from practice yesterday. It just doesn't add up.

The Jazz staff never cleared him. They were being pressured to clear him. The confusion isn’t the Jazz training staff. The confusion comes from Mitchell only being willing to listen to his personal staff and not the team staff. The ESPN article said “deepened tensions” not “started tension”. He’s been being his little diva self for weeks now as usual.

What do you do as a team? The team staff clearly wasn’t comfortable with him playing, then he threw a fit, and went public with it to the media(just like the Rudy situation). The disconnect and confusion obviously is the fact there are two medical staffs and he’s only willingly listening to one. If you hold him out Wednesday he’ll just diva more with the media and make more of a public stink about it.

Mitchell could be the biggest diva in pro sports history and it still wouldn't excuse our medical staff from blindsiding the entire team with the news that he was out hours before tipoff, a day after not including him on the injury report.

From what has been reported it was the shoot-around that morning they saw some things they didn’t like. Things can change day to day with an injury especially since the previous 3 days before that were the first time he’d practiced in a month. The Jazz staff aren’t innocent here, however, they were absolutely getting pressure from Mr. Diva, hence the “deepened tensions”, for weeks before that. So they caved to that pressure obviously, decided they weren’t actually comfortable with it, and pulled him. Maybe Mr. Diva should have been patient with the process. First he threw the Jazz medical staff aside 2 weeks in, took a shot at them in his first interview, and pressured them to clear him.

If there was any possibility that he was going to be ruled out, Mitchell should have been on the injury report and the medical staff should have communicated that possibliity to the team. They did not. As a result, our team got blindsided hours before a playoff game.

The medical staff is really not concerned with the media reports, who telling the rest of the team something. They are there to make sure the team is healthy in both the short run and the long run. Would you rather he had come back in, we won the game, but he reinjured it and was out for the rest of the playoffs?

I feel like you've completely missed my point.

Like - completely.

Their focus was probably on his $165 million dollar ankle and the long term well being of it. If he has a significant setback, or gets another injury because he Divad his way back too soon, it’s his fault. He always tells that story about breaking his arm after his mom told him God would humble him. That might be coming again.
