What's new

Mitchell, the next Damian Lillard but with defense

I think we should throw his freshman shooting % out the window. He was a multi sport athlete in high school. Dennis Lindsey has said his improvement trajectory is a little different than the typical player because of this.

Also, Pitino (this may invalidate everything I'm saying rn) told one of the ringer guys Donovan is the best shooter he's ever coached.

Isn't this what all college coaches do? Use superlatives about their current or former players.

He is the smartest player I've ever coached.
He is the hardest working kid I've ever coached.
He is the most coachable kid I've ever had.

And on and on. This is what they do. It's coach-speak.

Ends Kanter reminded Coach Cal of Karl Malone.

Did someone mention Uncle Milt? Obligatory mixtape time!

There's two things that I love about that video. One, all of his terribleness was from one game. Two, who the **** cuts out a Captain Crunch box and puts it on a stick to a game. At least, what sort of grown man does that.

Well, to begin with, getting excited about some guys in shorts running around and throwing a ball into a hoop, is a bit irrational, don't you think? Time will tell how good he will be. Life is full of surprises. Rudy is our first big surprise; no one ever expected him to be as good as he has become. You could say Ingles is the second, but nothing DM does is going to surprise us now.

Yep. I was actually confessing to my personal irrational exuberance.

Nope, it's below average in the NBA where 35.8% was average last year so I feel confident in saying it's below average in college as well.
I would be shocked if the college average were not significantly lower. Think about how much better NBA shooters than college shooters.

On the other hand there are lots of great shooters in college that could never play in the nba due to lack of size and athleticism.
Short white dudes who can shoot lights out are plentiful in college. Think jimmer

Jimmer was more of a volume shooter than a great shooter. Fugly mechanics tbh

I don't think this discussion was ever about mechanics. It's about ability to make three pointers imo.
Jimmer in college shot 39% from three on 5.4 attempts per game.
That's good imo.

Trey Burke in his last season in college shot 38.5% on like 5 shot attempts a game
