You can call those people stupid all you want, but it happens with the majority of zombie voters in this country unfortunately.
 
i knew pop was liberal. he has made some faux-cryptic comments about who he supports.

the black men debate is stupid race impacts people's choice, as much as we don't like to admit it. go read about the bradley effect or even look at local utah campaigns like reyes or this year's 2nd district congressional race and you'll see examples of people who pretend they don't care about race when the pollster calls, but then on election day they suddenly feel more comfortable with a candidate they identify with. that said, it also doesn't surprise me that there is so much support for romney among the NBA community since a lot of millionaires would probably much prefer the republican tax approach to obama's.

also, 80% of utah mormons inside utah vote rep, but i've seen numbers to suggest that the gap is far less for mormons outside utah. there are plenty of mormon dems, and if you don't believe me ask senator reid. utah's mormon advantage for romney won't matter much anyway, since we always know where this state's electoral votes are going.

Probably about as many as voted for John McCain because he was a republican. Ergo, no Mormon democrat is going to vote for Romney.

That's obvious. I'm not saying that should be the only reason, but it can play a part. You feel some personal connection to him or her, because of something else besides the same old politcal talk.

If you really don't see a big difference between the parties, or would like to feel represented by race or belief that does have merit.

If you are a Mormon, and you've never seen a Mormon president. He probably has many of the same values as you, or you'd like
to see what a Mormon would do in office. That's understandable. Why not? If Harry Reid was running for President you might vote Democrat. Voting the man, and his personal beliefs over his party.

You would likely see very, very few LDS republicans vote for Reid for president. Of the ones that would, most all would be heavily left-leaning to begin with.

I just don't like how the majority of Mormons are duped into thinking Republicans are "more christian" than Democrats. but that is another argument altogether.

If you are a Mormon why not vote for someone that represents your beliefs just on that level? That seems reasonable to me.

The same argument could be made for not knowing why most blacks are duped into voting for democrats. Look at the cities with the worst inner city problems. The vast majority have been democrat for decades and it's clearly not helping solve the problem.

And it's a fair argument. I don't think enough people on both sides truly do their homework, and find out who they are politically.
Your comment about the democrats not helping inner city minorities is awfully weak. That's pretty general, and we could
both give countless examples of success, and failure.
