What's new

Moving down and McDermott (two separate threads, really)

If we liked what the Spurs did...

Then we have gotta love McBuckets.

Incredibly smart, great bball player, lights out shooter, good passer, and big time winner.

I actually meant to put in the OP that if we didn't get him the Spurs would somehow pick him up and make him look like an all star in his first year. The guys they usually plug into those shooting roles are typically good shooters, but not necessarily amazing shooters.

I didn't say that at all. I said trade down for someone like Gordon if he's our target.

I'm not sure Gordon gets past 6. If he's your target, just take him at 5. I'm fine with adding assets to make other moves with, but I think you just stay at 5 and draft your highest rated player. If you want another pick, trade for Jeremy Lin. Houston is almost sure to trade him this offseason.

I'd take Lin off of their hands for their pick.

The Spurs showed that spacing the floor and moving the ball with crisp passing can make up for average athleticism.

Tony Parker wasn't himself, and the Spurs still won.

Exactly.

I can't think of another player in this draft that would fill a need better than mcBuckets. We don't have anyone that can hit the long ball. I'd love to add a dynamite shooter onto our roster from this draft.

Somebody as smart as McBuckets would make a halfway decent system look great.

The spurs would turn McBuckets into a player. While McBuckets would make the Spurs look beautiful, just like Mills and Green did. Mills/Green suddenly become as dangerous as Kobe in the spurs system.

We need a smart outside shooter to keep defenses from cheating so much on our bigs down low.
