The other part of this worth my two bits. Legend has it. . . . well, some sources say. . . . .some Faustian bargains have been made which pretty well guarantee no solution to the Palestinian/Israeli thing. Some vested interests really do mean to use the Palestinians as a "human shield" against Israel to perpetuate anti-Israeli issues. Others really do mean to exploit the US conservative/religious pro-Israeli sentiment both as a means of promoting arms sales and as a means of fomenting anti-American sentiment.

since when is a human shield good news.
i thought only hostage takers and criminals took human shields

One of the jobs of a bodyguard is to be a human shield. In some ways, it's part of the job of the military. I have nothing but respect for the volunteers.

YOUR WRONG.

Human shield is a military and political term describing the deliberate placement of civilians in or around combat targets to deter an enemy from attacking those targets. It may also refer to the use of civilians to literally shield combatants during attacks, by forcing the civilians to march in front of the soldiers. This is done in the hope that the other party will be reluctant to attack them. Furthermore, if the other party attacks these targets anyway, the resulting civilian casualties have propaganda value.

So, the term only applies to the unarmed. I stand corrected on that.

That just ups the respect ante for those who volunteer to be human shields, though.
 
Why doesn't our news report this stuff?

Do we want to continuously live in fear or hate for Muslims? Is this our new Communist/Cold War that will drive our military spending, education, and foreign policy for the next century?

if it isnt fear for moslims. its fear for something else. american goverment always seems to need fear to take some freedoms from their civilians away

As I interpret the information I have, this is a fine example of Muslims wishing, pointedly, to protect a minority from violence. I think they were counting on the sufficiency of their unarmed presence to deter the extremists. I think it is good news because if people generally will do such things to protect the rights of others, we will all live in a safer world. And to that degree that people do these kind acts for one another, so much we will be able to dispense with the trillions of dollars wasted on arms.

Deep in the historical past, there have been places and times when Muslims did better than others at providing stable communities where some minorities like Jews and Christians did live securely.

problem is muslims are put in such a bad light these days

i got a LOT of muslim friends. heck i come from a country in the world where a synagogue is peacefully next to a mosque. what i find sad is that the world thinks of what some Muslims did all are suddenly bad and we are suspicious of them.

because most serial killers heck i guess all of them are Caucasian should i now fear every akward looking white man at night.
should i be scared of blacks wearing purple or red cus they might be a crip or blood or whatever.

just saying we as people must not be shortsighted and judge all muslims on the actions of a few especially one that is make believe(bin laden).

human shield is never a good thing imho. but the gesture behind it i see as something good. makes people who are shortsighted see the other side of the muslims
