I like what you're saying, and it makes perfect sense. However, I have had other misgivings regarding my fathers actions towards my mother, his children and his extended family and friends in the past. This simple confirmation about who he is as a person coalesces my opinion of him and as I mentioned I can't reconcile that with who I want to be.
Now this heads in a way I can understand and possibly even support depending on those 'misgivings".

IMO, vote however you want for whatever reason you want. There is no right or wrong way. (My way is more right, though - actually more left - I'm confused)
As I mentioned, I wish this were about political opinions because I could accept that. I have no problem with Trumps stances on many issues. As a matter of fact, Trumps tax policies alone would save me a lot of money. I've said it before but I see Trump for who he is not for what he says he can do for our country. This election is not about our country, it's about who we are as individuals.

It's too bad President's don't just come in and establish the tax policy for their term in office. I mean it's not too bad. What's too bad is that people partially pick a candidate based on what they say they stand for in regard to tax policy when the President is one of the least influential people when it comes to actually making tax policy.
I can relate with str8line on this. It's not just a difference of opinion in this election. It's a bit like a line in the sand. Many of you who hate both candidates and feel that there is no difference between them probably do have a hard time understanding his feelings. I personally know no rational person that is voting for Trump (I don't count people on Jazzfanz). My family has recognized Trump's despicable nature from the very beginning, thank God.
Justified or not, I feel a deep animus for people who are voting for Trump because everything about Trump is the exact opposite of who I am and what I have come to value in life. When people choose Trump, they choose nearly everything that I despise in this world. By association, they become a person that negates everything that I hold dear.
At the same time, I can see that they are good people, and that I can still enjoy their company. However, deep inside, I remember when the time came to choose, they chose this piece of trash and therefore potentially put my children and world in jeopardy, while embracing all of the evils Trump has openly espoused and propagated.
I've never ever felt anything even close to this. In years past, I haven't even cared who people have voted for. I've given it almost zero thought. Trump has been an absolute game-changer for me, and its affected me like very few things. I've been sick for a week. My feelings of this threat have been as visceral as anything I've ever experienced. In short, I can understand the betrayal and animus that Str8line is feeling, even with his own dad.
The degree to which a person normally cares about seemingly insignificant things is normally a direct correlation to how much they care about large things. Everything is compounded. If you're normally someone who let's everything slide, then it will be the same thing in this case.
