My son is 16, has had a job for 4 months, does pretty well in school, and is involved in a music program. I think(pretty sure) he and his friends also vape and may do other stuff. He just made a "secret" hangout room under the stairs in my basement and they painted it. Some of the "wall art" includes a vape pen, a big mushroom and probably some other stuff but I haven't inspected closely. They have taken to "hiking" or hammocking in the mountains as their form of recreation. I'm concerned.

Yeah, if you suspect it I'd talk to him about it. And if you catch him, definitely drop the hammer. Weed is fairly harmless, vaping not so much.

He sounds like a great kid, but even great kids need to be set straight every once in a while.

Of all of the stuff you mentioned, the vaping is probably the biggest concern. Nicotine is very addictive at his age. I would talk to him about not getting himself addicted to that.

Nicotine itself is not. Caffeine is, I believe, more addictive, actually. However, the associated chemicals from cigarettes are worse than those from coffee. Part of the point of vaping was an attempt to separate the addiction from the poison.

Should go without saying. What did that doctor in the 80's say, something like nicotine doesn't cause cancer, it's the tar that's killing people.

I haven't read enough to be certain but it sounds to me like the stigma should go away.

Although the stereotype of a vaper is a millennial/whatever comes after, the largest group of people who vape is actually middle-aged men who are using it to quit smoking - like me.
