What's new

My last hopes for Favors died tonight ....

I meant last year: the 2016 offseason. After that nice, long, rejuvenating offseason, he played the first preseason game, and then started sitting out games because he was hurt.

He got hurt to start the 2016-17 season. His injury has been this entire season. He has not recovered all the way. Frankly I am glad he is just playing. With Gobert down our only Center on the roster is an undersized Withey. Favors is playing out of position and injured for us right now. He played well last season. When he is healthy next year he will play well again next year.

They need to move him this off season. He's not a good fit next to Gobert, his injuries are piling up and are becoming the norm, he's not contributing even when he's on the court, and finally his 16 million dollars is going to put us in cap hell next year. We need to sign Hayward and Jingles. Possibly Hill depending on his price. Can't have that money tied up in guys like Favs and Burks.

Your starting Center and starting PF in last nights game combined for ........
5pts 7rb (1 OReb) on 1-4 shooting, 3-6 from the FT line, 3ast (2 by Fav) 4 TO's (3 by Diaw) 3 STL and 0 BLK

They literally got out played by everyone on the Clippers, there isn't a player that got minutes on the Clippers that played worse than those 2, both players wish they played as well as the corpse of Paul Pierce. They couldn't even get shots up let alone make them against the defensive Juggernaut that is Marreese Speights and Paul Pierce, and DeAndre Jordan didn't sit the entire 2nd half...... what a joke. When you get 38min you should accidentally be able to score on a put back and find a few shots to go in, Favors didn't want the ball.

When you start speculating on why Withey didn't play (if the allegations are why he got a DNP) and wondering if Bolemboy for his energy and Lyle's deserves a look to see if he can screw up as bad as those 2 have (for Diaw the entirety of this series really) you know you're in trouble.

This probably should go in the Snyder got out coached thread I haven't read yet.

But really if you know Favors is hobbled and you only play him and Diaw at C....... either you need to learn to trust your players or you're not as deep as you say you are. I mean you have eyes you have to see not just in this series but all season that Diaw is about the worst rebounder on the team and you complain as a coach that you need to get more rebounds.... uhmm well play someone who is actually good at rebounding, it's not like Diaw (or Favors last night) was giving anything on offense that would be missed.

I honestly feel the same way about Mack, I guess for veteran status I get playing him at the start of the series to see if he can bring leadership to the backup PG but outside a few minutes he has brought nothing... well worse than nothing his D has been atrocious and Exum deserves a chance to show he's at least a big of an accident and TO prone as apparently Snyder thinks he is because Mack has already shown how much he is not going to give you. Frickin' Felton in last night's game has done more than Mack has all series. Heck Neto in about 5min did almost as much as Mack has all series.

Not how I remember it. He got hurt in the second half of 2015-2016, and he hasn't looked right since. We talked about how he'll need an offseason of rest last offseason.

I'm tempted to say '**** Favors and/or whoever is allowing him to suit up right now (given that he looks like a poor-man's Al Jefferson on D '; but the truth is, I saw multiple instances of low-heart and low-IQ play that went beyond health. So, I'll just stick with '**** Favors'.

He did get hurt towards the end of that season. But he recovered from that and got reinjured with a different injury to start this season. The injuries have piled up for him. I'm not positive he can stay healthy but I do know that he needs to recover from this injury before we judge his play. It's fair to say he might not stay healthy. He has little to no trade value injured so we might as well hope he recovers and plays well next year. I would however go after a better back up for center since Favors is not a center and has never played that well at they position. PF is another need since Favors has been hurt and Lyle's regressed although we would be fine at that position with others filling in if we had a back up center. Withey is too skinny at center.

No. DL is on record saying that in Favors' exit interviews last year they knew/saw that in the off-season he'd have to get through something; and that, at the beginning of training camp this year, they discovered that they'd have to continue nursing him along. This is an old thing.

Yeah, we'll have to wait and see on Favors. Fingers crossed.

Lyles can't be anywhere near as bad as he was this season. I hope he pulls it together. Otherwise, we invested a lot in players who aren't helping and can't be traded for much. Which would be very unfortunate.

Yes, they also reported he was fully healthy and having a great off season before he was re injured. When he injured his left knee after the first pre season game.

Jazz staff

I think Favors' injury timeline speaks for itself. And I also think that DL's later interviews (which include the info I gave above) are more transparent than the 'staff' statements you are citing; to me, it's clear that DL revealed more about what they knew and how everything has transpired. Favors hasn't been right for well over a year now. I don't think that's debatable (and I also stand behind the thread I made lambasting him and his handlers for their off-season work, which you gave me grief over).

You blasted our training staff. Maybe they made mistakes but we do not know, those are just assumptions. Maybe all of our injuries are on our staff but we dont know, we do not have the proper info to make that call. It is simply a guess. Which you are entitled to make but its still just a guess with no real knowledge behind it.

They also said they challenged Favors to have a career year and they were confident Favors was going to be a beast this year.

Okay, so what 4/5 is out there in the draft who can play some d? Any trade we could swing? This needs to be addressed.
