A little over a year ago I was out in Philadelphia doing a toxicology rotation (crazy experience) at Albert Einstein Medical Center in a trashy part of Philly. Now, this isn't much of a problem as I didn't stay near the hospital. Since I was short on cash and they didn't provide housing, I ended up getting in touch with a few people out there and was fortunate to secure a room at a place owned by an older Japanese man for not too much money. It was only later that I came to find out this was the absolute worst part of Philly.
This was my daily one-mile walk to and from the subway. I'd leave about 6:30-7:00 in the morning and nobody was out.
These are the infamous Rocky Steps. When I got to the top I saw a girl jogging up and I kept saying in my mind, "Do it! Do it! Do it!" Unfortunately, she did not do it.
This is a cheesesteak from Pat's (ignore sloppy ketchup), which I thought was better than Geno's across the street.
This is what was left of occupy Philly as of a year ago. There were about thirty people. Almost as many city workers escorting their parade.
Ended up taking the Bolt Bus from Philly to NYC twice. It was nice. It was only $12 or so. Here are some greats from those trips...
This is 129 West 81st Street. For those unfamiliar, this is the address referenced for Jerry's apartment on the upper west side in Seinfeld.
Yes, that's right.
On the wall inside hangs a Mormon pass-along card.
