My whine about the amnesty rule

What the hell... Rashard Lewis is going to play for Miami , while his old team is still paying 90% of his salary?
The rich get richer, the poor get poorer.
This does not seem righteous to me. The rules could be better.

As fans of a small market team we complain about the super teams, but the best players love them ( did you see Kevin Love is already wanting 'help' in Minny or he will leave?) and so does the NBA. Super heat vs super thunder was one of best tv ratings finals ever. Super teams will continue with 5 to 8 teams taking the best players from the other 20 -25 teams.

So the lock-out was a farce, atleast it was not about what we thought it was about. Owners just wanted a bigger piece of the pie.

It won't happen but it should. Do you watch a lot of baseball? I don't. There's a very good reason Football is king. Competitive balance.

I don't watch the NFL, but I love the fact that there always seem to be different teams in contention from year to year. It's a combination of the hard cap and just as importantly, non fully-guaranteed contracts. That makes it possible for teams to rebuild quickly.

Plus the fact that a "superstar" has less of an impact on the games. To many people and places on the field. Take 3 of the best players in the NFL and place them on a team with scrubs and they will lose more than they win.

I think the issue is not with feeling bad for the team that amnesties a player and has to pay most of their salary. It's just that if players clear waivers they are almost certain to flock to contenders at the minimum salary. The ultimate solution to that is to have an attractive team, although it's hard to match the appeal of a star-heavy team like the Heat.

Since 2004, only five baseball teams -- the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, Phillies and Cardinals -- have reached the postseason five times or more. In the NFL, NINE teams have done that -- the Patriots, Steelers, Colts, Ravens, Chargers, Giants, Packers, Eagles and Seahawks.

Who has more competitve balance again?
