NBA SUMMER LEAGUE 2018

I bet Allen pulls a Rodney Hood and has an insane Summer League scoring game. Hood was such a bi-polar shooter from the start.

People always seem to draw a lot of conclusions about draft picks from summer league or even their first year. We have got spoiled with Mitchell. Most players take a long time to develop. We cant really say how this draft should have gone for years.

Grayson Allen yesterday was a microcosm of everything i saw of him over 100+ games in college.

the bad: small for a sg, athletic on paper but not so much in games, inconsistent shooter, doesn't defend much,
the good: can get his jump shot almost at will, smart player who makes good decisions with the ball, good passer.

people will focus on the negative things i said because that's what the internet does, but i want to be clear that it was just one game - and while he's older - he can certainly improve in some of those aspects.

He admitted in the post game interview that he was rushing things, etc. I think he let the occasion got the better of him a bit and that may have affected his shots.

I'm still not all that optimistic about his long term ceiling. But if he can get anywhere close to Hornacek... or even JJ Reddick shooting wise then I think I can be content with the pick.

Oh?

If he becomes one of the best shooters in the league you’ll be content?

My, what realistic standards you have there.
