@ you guys using earplugs,

Are you using the basic foam plugs? the swimmer plugs? Or something else? I'm ready to try this again. I had 2 hours of police helicopter last night. ****ing ruined my night (and today, for lack of sleep).

This was years ago, but I always took them out at some point in the night without waking up. Maybe my aged body will accept them now.

You might want to try headphones. I got stuck staying in a hotel room once for a week with a guy who snored like crazy. Earplugs didn't do anything but with headphones on and some music playing I was able to sleep a bit.

I'm a fan of earplugs because they actually don't eliminate my ability to hear things.

If I wanted to be completely deaf when I slept I'd do noise cancelling headphones.

Earplugs just take the hard edge off of normal sounds.

Someone posted this years ago, one of SKA's many alts IIRC. We've been using it ever since and it still works. That and benadryl and melatonin.
