Netflix recs?

In a rush and skimmed some of that.

If kids are her friends, they’ll still be friends. Just because she doesn’t have one (or a smart watch which we also will not buy) shouldn’t change that. If it does, the friends suck anyway.

I have a small segment of my 9th graders who don’t have a phone or smart watch. They socially fit in just fine.

So far as rebelling, I can’t help you there. My wife and I are a united front on this. It’s bad. Read any article about the pitfalls of tech. Executives in the companies who make this crap and don’t let their own children anywhere near it. We tell our oldest this and that we are not allowing it because it’s cancerous and she gets it. She almost never asks for one. Maybe a handful of times a year and it’s jokingly usually. It’s honestly not a battle at all.

I sort of disagree with the part about if they are her friends they will still be friends. Friendships change during childhood and sometimes for very silly reasons. Sometimes a friend gets an in with a new group and that group isn't so hot on their existing lifelong best friend and the friendship ends. Or maybe she ends up being the new kid and not having a phone makes connecting with new people harder. I don't think it's so easy to say that a friend is a friend no matter what, because it doesn't work that way.

Friendships are fluid no doubt. Didn’t say they aren’t. But to lose one because you don’t text someone is beyond weak.

Eh, maybe you dont lose a friend because of not having a phone but often times friendships are based on shared interests. If her friend is interested in tik tok and she doesn't have tik tok then maybe her friend might spend more time with someone who has tik tok.

I had a couple of best friends growing up. At one point I got into fishing and smoking dope. Those friends of mine didn't like fishing or smoking dope. I was still cool with them and called them my friend but I rarely hung out them, instead choosing to hang with people who liked to fish and/or smoke dope.

Brotha, you’re doing yourself a favor if your kid loses a friend who obsesses over TikTok. It’s a cesspool.

Ok so episodes 3-4 are a bit better, we finally got some answers to the weird happenings around the house…

Also learnt that the age of consent in New Jersey is 16?????

WTF!!!!

Boy, I’d sure hate to be the father of a young daughter living in New Jersey…
@Miggs i see you disliked this. Do you think the age of consent should be as low as 16?

Watched Super Dark Times today. Really solid indie flick in the vein of River’s Edge, Mean Creek, and Bully. To lift off of someone online, it’s a bit Stand By Me meets Donnie Darko. Ish.

It could’ve been better. I think some of the development felt rushed or at least was not hashed out nearly as well as it could have been from about the 30-40 minute mark on. I also think in a few key scenes the actors just couldn’t quite bring home the emotion needed. They’re fine. Arguably good. Just not great. Which is a shame because with some rewrites and slightly better performances this could have been an amazing film.

Eden Lake: Fassbender, O’Connell, Vaughn’s gf in season 2 of TD

Solid British flick about teens (led by JOC) who terrorize a couple. O’Connell really is great in it.
