They have nailed it on Bloodlines so far. I will share my final thoughts when I finish it

It was pretty great all the way through. Had a good ending too

Not sure if any of you have watched Life on Mars and the sequel series, Ashes to Ashes. (Both titles are from Bowie songs, but that's not a huge part of the show.) Cop in modern day (well, 2003, when it was made) gets hit by a car and wakes up as a cop in the 1970s. Really does a good job of intertwining police procedural, time travel/fish out of water, and a bit of psychological drama. And the sound track (For Life on Mars, it's 70's, Ashes to Ashes was 80s) kicks all kinds of ***.

In the US, it's on BritBox. Oh, there is an American version, but it sucks.

Life on Mars was the last thing I got from Netflix on a DVD. I enjoyed it. I don't think I ever watched ashes to ashes.

I just had a thought: when was the last time I watched a DVD/Blu-ray? I dont even remember.

And it's not just because I like watching things I've never seen before. No, it's mostly because I'm too lazy to grab the DVD case, flip open open to the movie I want to watch, place it in to the Blu-ray player, and find the remote. I'm just too lazy.

I will sacrifice hours of my life watching subpar entertainment because I don't want to spend 2 minutes getting a disc to work.

I only remember this DVD because I never sent it back and ran into it years later.

When I find a film that was hugely important to me, or that I just loved, I still buy it on Blu-ray for quality of viewing. One of the last one's I bought was "Nobody", for example, because for my money it's just one of the best action movies to be made in recent years, and maybe one of the best ever. Anyway, I still have an oppo 203 Blu-ray player that is the best quality device I've ever seen, and when I really want the cinematic experience for these movies I'll fire it up and enjoy the best quality my home system can provide, which isn't bad with an 83-inch LG OLED, and a 7.1 surround sound soundbar-based sound system and a video bias lighting system that follows the action with surrounding lighting that matches the scenes. It's glorious! Some of my most treasured films I burned into archival Blu-ray discs to protect it through repeated viewings. Ok for a while there I got pretty stupid about this stuff, mainly because I didn't want to get tied down to streaming. Now, I stream 99.5% of everything we watch with the only exceptions being when I want to watch the Dark Knight or the Matrix or even some newer films like Nobody, one of my very favorites, in the highest quality I can get. Then I still break out the Blu-ray setup and it's a blast. But really I'm basically still keeping the dinosaur alive, and really for no particular reason. The last time I watched anything on Blu-ray was like 3 years ago when we had our local fiber connection out for like 4 days due to a construction accident or something, so we watched some of the Blu-ray collection. But really that's about it any more.
