News, rumors and buzz around the draft and free agency

Apparently. 5th string point guard isn’t a thing, so they might as well have created some salary ballast for a potential future trade by getting a savvy veteran as a mentor instead of a project that won’t play.

It just doesn’t make any sense to me. I know this should be a quibble but it reeks of a phoned-in or pet move and that **** drives me bonkers as a matter of principle.

I don’t know what I’m talking about and my anger is obviously completely irrational.

We already know he has some trade value since 2 teams already offered us something for him. I think it's a decent gamble that we can increase that value by developing him and him getting spot minutes here and there.

He seems like a smart player that shoots well and doesn't turn the ball over. That can work great in our system. George Hill ish type player that is young and cheap.

Mudiay isn't going to be the backup PG unless he really develops quick. Mitchell isn't playing much at PG. We want him next to Conley. Exum will play some there but also at the wing. There is help needed at the PG position right now. He can fill that possibly.

None of this screams phoning it in. None of this screams sticking to players that aren't good just because we drafted them.

Exum might end up being that wing defender people were waiting for the Jazz to sign...

I cannot express how much I hope they Exum explodes this season. Not literally, I mean from a successful basketball player standpoint. For all the joking about DedEx, I wish only tht best for the kid and I would be ecstatic if it turns out that most around the league views his contract as an extreme bargain by the end of the year.

That's what we all hope... I don't think any of us would see that as a bad thing for the Jazz. I will settle for staying healthy and becoming a solid/consistent contributor. He needs to do that before we can talk about exploding imo.

So the front office puts together by far the best roster we've had under Quin and ESPN ranks us worse than they have the past 3 years...makes perfect sense.
