NewsFlash!

I call that an unwillingness to truly evaluate each piece and get better where you can. Keep wearing the blinders buddy.

WTF are you talking about?

How is Hack wearing blinders? Pretty sure Burke has yet to be traded for anyone yet, proving him right and you wrong.

Jazz were happy with Rickey Green until they drafted John Stockton. They got rid of Dantley so Karl Malone could be the alpha dog. Jeff Malone was doing a pretty good job until the Jazz traded him for Jeff Hornacek. This is a business. If a GM can upgrade at ANY position, he'll do it.

Ain't gonna happen.

Even though the Jazz drafted Raul Neto in the same draft that they drafted Trey Burke, Lindsey isn't looking to replace him. GMs don't look to replace a starting top ten pick before their second season. Besides Trey at 21 is pretty good and pound for pound the best guy on the team because he for one, doesn't quit. Way too early to give up on him. There are many more holes to fill on this soft team than pg.

Wasn't saying they'll replace him this year. I'm glad he doesn't quit. It's important to keep shooting so you can have 3-15 nights. But as long as the rest of your teammates are doing their best to keep it close, all you have to do is hit a game winner every month and some will call you the best on the team.

Thought you were making a case that if Lindsey gets the chance to upgrade Burke, he will.

I'm saying Lindsey won't. Even if he gets the chance.

For every Smart or Exum the Jazz would draft, there is one less draft pick to take Vonleh, Gordon or Randle with. Resources are limited and Lindsey won't give up on Trey after just one year. A promising enough year at that.

Any gm would be more inclined to upgrade Burke 12 months from now if need be.

If there were a chance to get Rondo on the cheap, would DL let "loyalty" to Burke get in the way? What if a deal for an all-star at another position comes up and the price includes Burke?
Not one player is untouchable on the roster.

What I'm saying is it is highly unlikely Trey is traded THIS season. But that doesn't mean Lindsey would not draft Exum or Smart if they are the BPA's. The only picks that don't displace someone are Wiggins (not going to get him) and Gordon (if you see Gordon as a SF). Draft Vonleh or Randle and you're cutting into minutes for the bigs, specifically Kanter.

Trey was one of the worst starting PG's in the league last season: he shot 38%/33% and ran the team in slow motion as if there were a 45-second shot clock. But he's a GREAT player because he hit 2 game winners? Hey, no one hit a better shot than Sundiata Gaines a few years. He sure as heck wasn't starting quality because of that. OK, Trey was a rookie. But the fact remains he's short for his position and is not a quick PG. That's going to be tough to overcome. I don't see the Jazz drafting Exum or Smart as I think there are better options (Vonleh, for one). But I'd lay money on Trey not being our PG of the future.

Stop talking. If you cannot tell that this was about hypotheticals and how no one is untouchable if a better piece comes along then you should have the name Box of Rocks instead.

First the guy spent a large portion of the season with a finger injury to his shooting hand. Next you blame him for slowing the team down, but that's on the coach. Corbin wanted the offense to go through Hayward had Burke dribble the ball up court and then give it to Gordon. If anything Trey was outstanding in transition at UM why would he not at least attempt to play that style if he wasn't told by the coaches not to do so? The ball often rotated to Burke late in the shot clock putting him in bad situation. So he ended up taking a bunch of low percentage shots because his options where limited. Yeah he settled for jumpers way too much, but a lot of that was just poor design in the offensive scheme.

No one is calling Trey a great player. Just a guy who more than carried his weight as a rookie imo and who led the team in assists.

Rondo is a bad joke. He isn't the player you acquire to attract the next coach. Trey is much more new coach friendly, at a much cheaper price too.

Lindsey should stand pat at 5 and draft Gordon imo, or trade down a spot or two and draft what remains of Gordon, Vonleh and Randle (in that order).
