Nice Coaching Quinn

Let's all head back in the time machine with 9 or so minutes left in the 3rd quarter and the Jazz up by 25. Let's say a certain unnamed coach with a Duke degree decides to sub in Ekpe, Jonas, Raul, AB and X with instruction it is 0-0 and that is a DLeague or Turkish team with the other colored jerseys. Could the results have been worse. The first string got outscored by 34 in the remainder of the third and 4th. Plus a lot of our guys were just chucking and missing. I get that we are lacking in depth but both Ekpe and AB were lottery selections at one time.

In hindsight, yes, it would have been worth trying this tactic. But Snyder made the safer decision, which is to ride with the team that got you there. Snyder isn't a perfect coach, no question. But he's a damn good coach. He has instilled a system that brought this team out of the abyss in the middle of the season, brought them to the playoffs. Our team respects him. Our team plays his brand of basketball, which has gotten us this far. He does some things that puzzle me, but I have to admit he knows so much more than I do. It's fun to armchair coach a bit, though, so I feel you there.

(You misspelled Quin's name in the thread title, by the way.)

Only @infection ith aloud in the DeLorean, dipthick.

Decisions can be criticized but this black and white approach gets exhausting. I criticized DL for not trading for Mirotic (still do), but despite that I insisted he was at least a top 3 GM, if not higher (or the top), even back in December and January.

One game and "OMG FATAL FLAWS EXPOSED!!!1"

The sky is falling, of course. If the Jazz don't win 100% of their games then they suck and will probably now lose 100% of their games.

I believe in Snyder as a coach. That's a nice feeling. The fact that he was patient, kept working with this team, kept working through the worst months to instill a discipline and process to the team—the contrast between his approach and Donovan's with OKC has been stark.

Have you proposed to Mirotic yet?

What's funny is I was watching the game with a OKC fan who kept saying he can't wait until Donovan is fired. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some Bulls fans who griped about Phil Jackson. There are fans who will never be happy with a coach unless he calls Ms. Cleo and knows the ideal thing to do 100% of the time.

Boler and Harp called it that the Jazz were settling for 3s after DFav and Rudy went to the bench. The 3s weren't going in and that led to jail break after jail break.

If someone can channel Ms. Cleo, then that's an impressive feat as she's dead. But I think you've just inspired the next game thread.

Reminds me of when Sloan totally out coached Adrian Dantley when AD was interim coach for Melo’s Nuggets.

Could it be that they came back because both Rudy Gobert and Derrick Favors were in foul trouble and we didn't actually play our first string?

You are the only one who would have thought it was a good move to replace our starters with a lineup like that. I think it is pretty clear that you have no clue how good Westbrook and Paul are capable of playing with the crowd at their back. I still feel confident that the Jazz will finish this at home. I will instantly feel a lot less confident if, in the midst of a run, Snyder suddenly decides to take your advise.

You mean they are 34 points better in a quarter and one half? Ekpe was drafted ahead of PG as was Hayward. Russ was taken with the 4th pick 10 years ago and behind Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley and OJ Mayo.

So because you're a lottery selection, that means you can play productive playoff basketball?

That's awful logic.

We should have signed Anthony Bennett to a 10 day. Rudy going out wouldn’t have been an issue because Rudy was #27 that year while Bennett was #1.

What does draft position have anything to do with how they are now as players?
