Hey, I'm fine with nobody mentioning "player development" ever again, since it's all crap anyway. Let's just call it like it is – you want this team to lose as much as possible, and since our young players are bad, giving them lots of minutes with zero accountability is a great way to achieve that.

It's all just a cynical game to get the next shiny toy.

You caught me. I was so embarrassed to say that I want tanking and you saw right through my lies. Why would anyone think that playing time could be good to develop players when player development is in fact fake. Deep down in my heart how important playing Svi is to this franchise.

I hope others who are afraid can come out and admit they like tanking. It was very hard for me to come forward, and I'm sure it is for others.

At some point, there will probably be a roster shake-up. There are too many guys that need minutes right now, including Kyle Anderson and Georges Niang when he comes back. Neither Cody nor Brice have gotten meaningful minutes in the last couple of games.

I'm not so sure on, Kyle. Seems like he's relishing his bench-vet-player-coach role. Not sure if you caught it last night, but from his reactions he's highly, highly invested in Keyonte's development. No one was cheering him harder and giving him sideline coaching. Really cool to see.

What punishment? I've not seen anybody on the Jazz punished this season.

Even with no pick involved, the right move is prioritize the young player development. Our guys need reps, they do not need a shock collar. There is no amount of benching Ace that will help him develop more than reps.

"Just do reps" doesn't develop anyone. If there out there playing incredibly badly and losing by 40 night after night because of it, it will obviously hurt them. Possibly even long-term.

It's also hard to develop without minutes.

Who's the player that doesn't get any minutes?

Sensabaugh played 1400+ minutes last season, effing Cody played a 1000+. Collier 1800+, Flip 1500+. And Ace and Clayton will certainly get minutes this season as well. As they did last night, especially Clayton.

But getting reps does help a player. Feel free to disagree, but I have always seen playing time and opportunity as a key aspect to player development. You need experience to become experienced. When I see our young players play, I don't see a bunch of guys who need more accountability in order to be better. I mostly see guys who need more experience. I consider playing time as a resource and when you can it's always preferable to give those minutes to young guys instead of vets without a future when you're rebuilding.

The Will Hardy scheme finally worked to perfection last night

NBA tracking suggested 50 of Boston’s 51 3-point attempts vs. Utah were open or better (4+ feet of space from defender).

Celtics made just 9 of 29 (29%) wide-open 3s, and 2 of 21 (9.5%) of open 3s.

I have never said that Hardy is benching all the players. Maybe there's confusion here, but that has never been what this conversation was about and I don't care to argue about it. If you actually think what I've said, we can just end it here. No, he is not benching every single player. Got it? Hope there's no more confusion.

What I have actually said is that we should prioritize player development. In particular, I have focused on the minutes Svi is given because that is just the most obvious violation. IMO, those minutes are better served elsewhere. That could mean more minutes for the guys already playing or any minutes for the guys getting zero. Some have argued that playing Svi is actually the more effective way to develop these players, hence the accountability discussion. To each their own, but to me prioritizing development means prioritizing minutes and opportunity for the players that matter. This was never actually a discussion about what Hardy is or isn't doing. It's a discussion about why he's doing it and whether or not it's good.

I don't actually believe Hardy is playing Svi so he can benefit Brice and Cody. I think he's doing it because he's prioritizing getting the W. Prioritizing the W over player development (and tanking) is backwards given where this franchise is.

Well I figured all the talk about benchings, punishment, not developing youth and not giving them minutes and reps was about those things, not about Svi's minutes. But oh well.

The rotation would've looked very different had Collier not been out the whole start of the season. Possibly to the point of Svi not playing a minute.

I have no idea what Cody has to do with Svi, because they're not competing for minutes. And Cody can't play basketball at the NBA level.

If, again, all this multi-page broo-ha-ha was "Svi should've played 15 minutes less and those minutes given to Sensabaugh", then this feels massively overblown.

Cody actively makes everyone worse on offense when he plays (or at least that was the case last season). Brice does the same thing, but on defense (and for his offensive talent he has not been able to really facilitate the offensive flow as the team performs far worse when he's on the court and has been prone to going back to bad habits of overdribbling and not moving the ball fast enough). Even Ace, with his ball-hogery tendencies, has shown a higher rate of growth in passing the ball quickly than Brice has.

When Harkless is out there busting his *** on defense, that's making everyone around him better, on both ends. Same thing with Svi. While I dont think Svi is very good, he has played a smart/controlled floor game this season and he's actually capable of putting up some defensive resistance.

I think Svi will eventually lose his starting job to someone, because at the end of the day he just isnt very good, but for now I'm fine with him playing the minutes he gets because he is out there helping others be better, or at least not actively getting in anyone's way of being able to get better.

And I know some people will say "Well start Brice and let him play with better players" but Brice is going to get absolutely cooked by NBA starting wings and is going to greatly compromise your defense.

Idk about you, but those things have a lot to do with winning and losing. Performance on the court is going to drop if we shift more minutes to young players vs vets, but I'm ok with that because I believe you need to give young players minutes in order to get better. I do not think they will improve their awareness and bbiq more on the bench than they will on the court.
