I dont think we play selfish dumb basketball. I just think we have so few playmakers, that it puts way too much pressure on the guys who can actually create their own shot.

Filipowski has hit a rookie wall it seems, and he was the main catalyst of the improved ball movement/flow, so the offense has taken another hit. Then we roll out Cody for 10-15 MPG and when you play him, the offense is impossible to run.
Agreed. More than likely, Knecht falls into the same category…our ball movement is not good. Knecht would make a slight improvement for right now but jazz need to be looking 3-4 years from now. Still am ok with the Cody Williams pick. Just my opinion on long term building strategy.

Knecht would greatly improve our spacing and our ability to run offense. If Clarkson/Keyonte/Filipowski/Sexton had a guy like Knecht to hit, our offense would look much better.

Just watching Cody the last handful of games, the guys are super hesitant to give him the ball because they know nothing will come of it outside of wasting 5 seconds of shot clock.

Come on, the Lakers knew they were winning the game and coasted to the end.
Also Lakers are basically only playing with 4 guys (LBJ, AD, Reaves, Knecht). They need to preserve their players' energy until they make a few trades. I can see them potentially having interest in a few Jazzmen (Kessler? Sexton?). DLo won't be there at the deadline that's for sure.

rui too when healthy, but your point stands.

Totally agree. But if Knecht wins is 8 more games and we draft 8th instead of 3rd, for our timeline, would that be worth it? He is a great piece to add to a seasoned team bc he will add that extra spacing. Would not be as good of spacing with the jazz but he would be infinitely better than Cody right now. Just doesn’t fit the bigger picture in my mind which is we need a superstar

Doubt the Lakers make any big trades given how well they are playing. They've already been pretty upfront about not wanting to hurt their future for short-term. Got to think wining only reinforces they are OK staying the course, especially with Knecht/AD/Reeves looking good.

No, the problem is that what he did at Colorado – against much, much weaker competition – may have been his ceiling as a player. There was never any hint that he has that extra gear you need when you get to the NBA.

He was drafted at #10 because of name recognition and a mistaken belief that there was a reason to expect him to be something of a late bloomer, like his bro.
Yeah, I remember Tony Jones being so high on him saying there weren’t many with his combination of size and ball handling and athleticism, and shooting, and he does none of that. I took Umbridge to that just looking off the tape from Colorado he did none of that. I didn’t see it and I’m not seeing it now. I like Tony, and think he’s got knowledge and all but he had that wrong.

Problem #1 with drafting 19yos: You're projecting your own vision on to them what they can be - and may be terribly wrong.
Problem #2: Realistically it's not possible to put a 1st round pick in the G league for two full seasons to develop. And just practicing with an NBA team won't fulfill that vision ever.

Right now Cody is unplayable and this isn't helping anyone. But then of course, who will you play? Svi? The decision on Sensabaugh seems made.

At this point Cody needs to be sent down to the G league to work on his game.

Last night, Cody played 4 mins in each half and didn't really handle the ball or take a shot. Other players, except Collier, treat him like he's an intern. Lauri won't pass him the ball.

Cody should be getting 20+ on-ball reps and 8 3PAs a night in the Gleague. The rest of the time he should be working on his body.
