What's new

When you guys have a minute, go look at what Ochai Agbaji is doing in Toronto this year. That's the fate Cody is trying to avoid.

It's not small sample size. It's literally the entire sample. THIS YEAR the offense has been fine with Cody on the floor.
Yeah, because a lot of Cody's minutes came in the 4th quarter during the blowouts and it improves his averages. That is why his offensive rating is higher than Lauri's. And that is why Harkless has the team's second highest offensive rating (hint: Harkless is also bad on offense).

I'm old enough to remember people saying trading Ochai was dumb and it was Hardy's fault he was bad.

Also Ochai got his full 4 year rookie deal. Cody hoping to get to his 4th year at this point

Is the stuff about garbage time true? If so, back it up, I'm open to new information.

People complaining about small sample size and then pointing to 3 minutes as a gotcha. Smh.
Lmao. Brother you have some very strange blindspot on this. Cody hasnt improved at all. Teams still know he's terrible and they defend him like it. Still hasn't shown an inkling of being able to punish teams for not guarding him.

The part about our offense being fine with him on the court this year is not an opinion. The other part is and I could be wrong about that.

Cody not helping tank the offense is the opinion. The fact that the ORtg is fine with him on the court does not prove the opinion correct. That's awful statistical analysis. The SSS being the entire sample does nothing wrt curbing randomness/luck.

I guess the question could be asked though, would/could the offense be even better if you replace Cody with a better offensive player?
If the answer to that question is yes then you could argue he has hurt the offense this season even if the offense has been good with him due to the fact that it could have been better with someone else in there.

Btw, sorry for piling on.

Blast to the past, but I remember when somebody here was using this stat to try to make a point about Kanter's defense compared to Gobert's.

In the final month before we traded Kanter, the Jazz's defensive rating with Kanter on the court was actually a 98.1 in 388 minutes, whereas it was only a 105.5 in 340 Gobert minutes.

And now we have somebody using Cody Williams' offensive rating in 138 total minutes this season to make a similar point, when the correct conclusion should be that it's a really noisy stat, meaningless for the purpose they're trying to use it for.

Fellas, Keyonte George is playing absolutely unbelievable. If he had Rudy Joe and Bojan people would be arguing he's better than Donovan
