Nurkic is Fat and Cant Run (Source: His Coach)

There was a world in which Nurkic got in shape, played well, and earned one more contract. This world where he's indifferent to playing basketball and collecting his last NBA contract is ideal for the Jazz. It's one of the reasons why I've been interested in trading in him for awhile, he doesn't seem too interested in playing basketball or extending his career.

Perfect situation would be to send him home, get a prospect C on roster, and then just waive him at deadline if no trade materializes. Everyone wins.
Just give Oscar minutes.

Oh wait..

This dude once got mad and requested a trade because he lost his starting spot to the best player in the world.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk

The irony of this thread is Nurkic is needed on this team without Kessler and he has actually been playing well. I would not mind bringing him back as a backup, but closer to the mid-level in price.

On the other hand, he is fat and slow so the thread title is accurate.
Also, statistically:
39% from the field (I would guess that is dead last in the NBA for 7 foot centers).

16% from three lol.

Doesn't get to the line but when he does only makes 63%.

Grand total of an eFG of 41.4% which is the worst of his 13 year career. (And probably one of the worst in the NBA I would assume)

Doesn't protect the rim very well and is pretty bad defensively overall.

Turns it over a little too much.

He does rebound and pass well though.

Nurk is a better defender than he's being given credit for here. His rebounding alone contributes a decent amount to defense.

Nurk is currently 94th percentile in defensive xRAPM (stats and +/-) and 70th percentile in pure defensive RAPM (+/- only).

Stats aren't gospel, but calling him a bottom 10 defender in the league is pretty ridiculous.

He had a good game last night vs the Laker JVs. Hardy only played him in one preseason game and he basically won the game late for the Jazz. Maybe the guy is a total cancer but last night he was hustling and making plays.

Nurk sets good screens. Sometimes he makes good passes. He rebounds well. He is too slow and is a horrible perimeter defender. He is also a poor shooter. Overall he is good for the tank.

Did someone call him a bottom 10 defender in the league since this thread was resurrected?

so he's perfect for this year

As well a bunch of other big dudes who currently aren't playing in the NBA probably
I wouldn’t say that. He’s 3rd in the league in defensive rebounding % and 4th in overall rebounding %. Almost 10 rpg in 24 minutes. There are advantages to being so big you can’t be moved. Though admittedly it does hinder overall defensive effectiveness.
