There is blame on both sides. I want to help those out who are down on their luck and need some help to get back on their feet. When I see people driving nice cars and buying candy bars and pop and beef jerky at the gas station with food stamps...that's not what I had in mind.

BOTH parties are to blame. Anyone who can't see that is part of the problem.

I agree that all gov't waste should be eliminated but this is about provide a service that many Americans NEED. However, I get your point nothing boils my brain when I read an article about how the military built two ships @ $300 million a piece and they never left the harbor.

the use of the term "shutting down the government" is a sort of political rhetorical symbol. Nobody is going to abandon their elected office and just stop having any government. We have not had a budget process for five years, and Obama is not going to submit a budget for congress to approve or reject. Until he does that, Congress should take a stand and insist that the spending comes up for the constitutional approval of Congress. Until he does that, he is eliminating the proper constitutional job Congress is supposed to do.

Sad to see you taking a completely ignorant stand on this one, bud.

So you want Obama. To send a spending bill. To congress to approve. During a time when government is shut down. For not funding a budget. That was already approved and requires Obama to pay.

Also, babe, Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974 was not the original intent of the US Constitution. You had better reverse your "progressive, communistic, British infiltration" demands a.s.a.p. :)

How and when did we turn into a nation of drama queens? Srs the feigned panic this last week is simply hilarious. Newsflash there was no government shutdown but we all regurgitate the sound byte as if it actually explains what is going on. Some people got furloughed(they will likely be paid for their lost time) and some parks closed, relax.

The debt ceiling thing is not optimal but at the current spending/revenue levels it is inevitable. Better sooner than later methinks.

I would think so to but to pretend this does not have the potential to be insanely bad is foolish. You can already see the effects in your everyday life. Don't believe me? Go buy milk at Wal-Mart.

I just dropped 6 bucks on a gallon of milk.

Need a social security card to get that new job or a renewed drivers license? To bad, not during the shutdown.

Need proof of your social security check to get into that apartment? Not during a shut down.

No new HUD or small business loans.

No experimental treatments for cancer patients, including kids.

Just examples of what is already happening.

It can and probably will be fixed shortly but if not millions of Americans will be truly hurt by this.

It was always $8 a gallon. Someone else was paying the other $5 for you. Why would you buy milk @ walmart I swear that **** is half water. I wish the government would actually shut down so I could get a pack of smokes for $1.

Great but now it is 6 dollars for the average consumer. If you cannot see the affect if that then you are intentionally blind.

I would rather have someone else pay the other 5 for me than me pay it..... in other words: me paying 3 dollars for milk is better than me paying 6 or 8 dollars for milk.

Oh and the great value 1% milk is my favorite milk
