This guy is the heart and soul of the Utah Jazz. And he wants to be here for the 'rest of his career'

we don't need our best player reuniting with D-Will and Wesley in Portland.....

our number 1 priority should be to get Millsap extended this offseason and use Big Al to trade up in the draft

MAKE IT HAPPEN OCONNER

I won't lie, Millsap is still my favorite player. Despite his weaknesses I still think he plays with more heart than anyone else on the team. Unlike Miles, we watched Millsap grow and succeed as a starter. Hayward has also been very impressive, surprisingly.

Sap making an average of 8M of his deal 4y/32M. Good production for that contract of course.

What is he worth on the FA market?

Scola:10Mish average
Humphries: 8M
Josh Smith:12M-13M a yr
Aldridge:13Mish average
Boozer: 14Mish average

I think this puts Paul in the 10M - 11M ish range.
Would you give him a 4/44 deal? 5/48?

You aren't getting him back at the current rate. Someone will pay him more than 8m per year on average.

If someone is willing to pay him over 10 per year, I say, thanks for your time, I love watching you when you gave your all, but you are too small and too old for a 4/44 or 5/48. I will always appreciate the time you gave us.

I think extending him would be nice, especially if it made us commit in terms of having to move Jefferson, a decision that I'd assume we'll want to sit on and approach passively.

If he makes what he makes this year I'm all for it. Anything more than 7m a year and I pass easily.

Which probably means if I was in charge he would not be back. Also if he won't extend this off season I trade him before he can become a FA and we get nothing for our most tradeable asset.

He is making 8 million this year........

I'd rather have Millsap at the max than any of the asshats that we'd try to give the max to that would end up being cancerous. Now, I'm not saying give Millsap the max, but if we forecast ahead our stupid moves and giving him the max prevents us from signing some other ******* to the max then perhaps it would be a blessing in disguise.

I think KOC would go up to 12 million a year, which is about David Lee money. Jefferson, Harris, Miles, Raja, will all be off the books. Big men get paid.

If you pay Millsap 12 mill a year, mthen you are saying goodbye to Favors or Kanter.

No, if you sign Millsap to 7 million then the Jazz go out and pick up some idiot for 6 million. Someone who Corbin will feel compelled to play. Then you can say goodbye to Favors or Kanter. Personally, I'd rather pay Millsap 12 million, pocket that extra million, and not have to deal with that jackass making 6 million that's bitching about playing time and Corbin bends over for. The more money we give Millsap, the more insurance we have to protect management from themselves.

I guess Portland did give him that weird contract scale, right?

That last 3 years he has made, 7.7, 7.6, 8.1. From year 1 to 3 (current year).
Where did you get this info? Also what he makes and his cap hit may be different due to the toxic offer he was given, not sure though. Hoopshype said 6.7 for the current year. I know there is another site out there that may or may not be more accurate but i can never remember where it is. Millsap is definitely worth the money he makes. I would not pay him much, or any more than that.

...THIS is one of the most idiotic posts I've read in a long time! Give Mansap 12 million a year? Have you lost your mind!!! We ain't gonna win with him....and we ain't gonna win if we don't sign him. Actually, we have a better chance of winning if we don't sign him to all that money.

5/45 sounds about right imo - milsapp is ranked in the top 10 players on yahoo fantasy basketball! I am sure his agent will use that fact.

I can understand the reservations that people have as well - he is undersized, and has had some pretty lean stretches during the year where that lack of size has really stood out - so there are questions whether he could lead the team to playoff success.

I suppose in 5 years time when the contract expires - we would be expecting and hoping that favors and kanter are ready to and are holding down the spots of PF and C, and are deservedly doing so.
