Oden for Millsap?

I would be hesitate to do this trade only because of Oden's injury history. I doubt Portland would do this deal but the Blazers are going to have a tough time next year re-signing him with all the contracts they have.

Perhaps the Jazz can be a player for his services next year when he is a free agent. AK will be off the books and the Jazz will see if Oden can stay healthy for a year. I know Oden could have a monster year and then lose out on a chance to get him in free agency but it would be great if the Jazz could get some pay back to the Blazers for Millsap and Matthews' contracts. I definitely think he has talent but he can't seem to stay healthy.

With Paul Allen's deep pockets and Oden's Bird rights, the Blazers will have absolutely no problem signing Oden.

Hell no. Here's why:

Oden's 3 seasons: 0, 61, 21 games. Career 9.4 ppg + 7.3 rpg + 1.4 bpg.

Millsap's 4 seasons: 82, 82, 76, 82 games. Career 9.9 ppg + 6.8 rpg + 0.99 bpg.

Then let's run this trade through ESPN's Trade Machine:

Portland: with this trade you have increased this team's projected wins by 4.

Utah: with this trade you have decreased this team's projected wins by 7.

Hell. No.

okj just cuz espn trade machine says it it must be right.lmao.... Millsap a good player but jefferson the same type. Stick to watching soccer

I've been to 3 games oden played in. My experience: he gets a couple quick fouls and sits the rest of the quarter. Then they bring him back and he gets a quick foul and sits for the half. Etc. I think he's a bust unless he can stay healthy long enough to learn to stay on the court.

The Jazz would have to do this if it were on the table. Oden's still young and just 2 years ago he was the next Tim Duncan. Sap's hit his peak.

You dont trade a player who has proven he can provide for a player who hasnt even proved he can be healthy yet. Lets say Oden stays healthy, he still has to prove he is worth a #1 pick. ITS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN

We've been waiting for how long now for Sap to be the starter and as soon as he gets the chance you want to ship him off for a "Kwame Brown" type player. No thanks. Let's see what Paul can do with a full season of starter minutes. I think we'll all be very happy.

Why does he have to prove he's worth the #1 pick? If the Jazz traded for him all he would have to prove to me is that he can stay reasonably healthy and more valuable than what we trade for him. I don't give a **** where he was picked as long as he helps the team.

Millsap has proven he can score and rebound. But at the 4 against starter's is a huge question mark. And against the Lakers he was absolutely pathetic defensively. I'm not sure at his size he will ever be able to man up on big guys with low post games like Gasol and Duncan. It was nice that he did not play like a scared puppy but he still has a huge hill to climb because of his size.

Absolutely yes - in a NY minute. But Portland would die laughing at the offer. Oden may end up being a bust but he also may become one of the best centers in the league. Sap will never be more than an average PF and he should be a 6th man. No team will ever win a title with Sap as the starting PF unless the center they have is a world beater and then it is still doubtful. AJ can start and AK can be the backup PF.

Is there risk with this - sure. But the upside potential is far greater than the downside. Even if Oden sat out the season, trading Sap does not cost us many if any wins this year.

Uh, no. If you have the opportunity to trade a career 6th man/borderline starting PF for a young 7 footer, 3 years removed from being drafted #1, who still has a sky high ceiling, you do it.
Millsap hasn't even proven he can stay healthy in a starting role either.
