Official Draft Thread

That was the only thing that was impressive that I saw. Looked slow. Labored a lot. Didn't have his legs when Favors did. I don't like his form on his jump shot. I can see why he's projected to fall on draft night.

Jerry's going to tell Cousins that he's doing too much Jack potting around. :)

Are you saying no other teams after us have drafted athletic big men over the years?

To not be incorrect by just saying no I went and looked it up. Since 1999 there have been 6 guys drafted after the Jazz had there pick that fit your discription of a long athletic shot blocker.
In 2001 Sam Dalembert was drafted 28th if the first round. in 2002 Tayshawn Prince went 18th. In 2003 Kendrick Perkins went 28th. in 2004 Josh Smith went 17th. And in 2009 Serge Ibaka was taken right after we took Kofus.

The only other one I found was when Al Jefferson is right between our 2 blown picks of Humphries and Snyder. And In 2005 there were a few also but that is the year we Pick D-Will and I think we can agree that we would rather have him.

At this stage, comparing Favors to Cousins is a bit apples and oranges. Favors is much more of a PF and Cousins much more of C. I can promise that while Cousins is relatively out of shape, he's much, much stronger than Favors is. Besides, he does weigh 50 pounds more. Considering how much more in shape he can be and that he's 300 lbs, he's actually impressively agile and fluid. And if he were to step on a floor today, he'd be able to abuse half of the starting centers in the league with his strength alone.

I'll bet a lot of people would feel different about Cousins if they could stand next to him. Some guys you have to measure to find out how big they are. That kid is just big. And you can tell he's country strong. He's going to be a flat out load to defend in the post. I don't know about all the psychological stuff, but he's one of the few guys in this draft who is straight born to play in the NBA. (PS. Your sig makes me laugh.)

So was another guy. Happened to have a good nickname, too. He did well in the league, that "Big County" guy.

I actually disagree. I think Cousins may find the athleticism/speed of the game in the NBA a lot tougher for him and it difficult to guard solid 5's and get off the ground quickly enough to contest or block shots. Favors on the other hand is much quicker and can jump higher.

For me, if Cousins could lose 25 pounds to get to 275 and get his body fat from 15% to about 10%, holy ****, he'd be scary.

Did I truly hear him say "Duh-ron" Williams?

Really? Really shouldn't be that big of a deal, but how could you know a guy but not how to say his name?
