What's new

Official Draft Thread

I'd say its still Whiteside's job to lose. You have to think the Jazz are perfectly happy with Milsap as the full time PF especially with his impressive numbers in the playoffs this year - even against the Lakers. Also at the PF you can use AK, Memo, and Tomic in a couple years. At center though, Memo doesn't work and his defense will just get worse with that injury. Koufas is still a wildcard but has said himself he prefers playing PF as he's not a banger. Fes is an atrocious ft% shooter and doesn't block that many shots for having a 7'4 wingspan. He plays decent man defense against other bigs since he can't be backed down, but will require a raise to keep and not sure the Jazz want to spend their little remaining money on him.

Whiteside is an immature headcase of a project that may not even see significant PT for years. Not just no, but HELL NO!

I'll grant the immature-- but what makes you think Whiteside is a headcase?

As for the playing time- he is a capable of blocking shots and rebounding now. The rest of it is the problem.

IMO the top 5 defensive bigs are Favors, Whiteside, Davis, Udoh and Aldrich. I don't see Whiteside or Aldrich ever developing an offensive game.

And the profiling continues … https://www.slamonline.com/online/nba/2010/06/slamonline-mock-draft-cole-aldrich-no-9

your list is a good summary of the players in the "Duds" list in Hollinger's draft rater column (sorry, you can't see it if you're an Outsider):

https://insider.espn.go.com/nba/dra...?columnist=hollinger_john&page=PERDiem-100521

36. Aldrich
50. Udoh
54. Davis
62. Whiteside

in a nutshell, he projects a player's PER by using their college stats and then tweaking the numbers somehow.

i know, i know, everyone hates Hollinger here. but he backs his projections up by showing past predictions and results, and they look pretty convinving (to me, anyway).

his numbers like several other guys that have been linked to the Jazz pick:

4. Monroe
5. Favors
6. Henry
7. Babbitt
8. Aminu
9. Johnson
14. Orton
17. Hayward

The question was who were the best defenders: PER only does a good job of quantifying offensive numbers.

I hope something is in the works to move the Jazz up a few places in the draft. Even if this Minny talk is garbage, I'm hoping KOC is looking at as many options as he can.

This thread practically has to shut down until the workouts start. We're not going to know who stacks up until the big men face off. It will be interesting to see which players take on all comers, and which of them try to shy away from the competition.

Donatas Motiejunas got moved from nbadraft.net's 2010 draft. Bummer if they have info - that was my guy this year. Even if the Jazz didn't pick him, having him in the draft still helps them.
