Official Locker Room Cleanout Thread

Locke: Where do you want to play next year?
Jefferson: I want to play in the NBA.

Ty talked about how crappy it was coaching all the free agents. That is probably one area where we underestimate him. it looked like he only lost Millsap towards the end of the season. I know I would like to see him say screw you to the vets, and play the young guys, but how bad would that locker room be if he did that?
Who cares? All he has to do is have a sit-down with Kevin and Dennis and get their approval. If a vet complains, then suspend or release him. The ONLY reason it made sense to play AL and Paul so much at the expense of Derrick and Enes is if a) they were being featured to increase value before the deadline or b) the Jazz were hoping to re-sign them for next season.

I'm fine with getting Marvin back as long as he is the 6th man or something. Maybe I still have hope he might play better next year. Why? Why do I have this hope?

I think there is still hope for Marvin. If Al is truly gone, I think we will see a different Offense next season. More movement and cutting which seems to play into Marvin's favor.

I know that is what I would do, but I am not the coach, nor do I know the situation fully.

In his interview, Ty said he thinks Gordon will be a guy that can carry the team next year. Does that mean running iso for Gordon on half of the plays called?

Crap, the youth movement stuff that is coming out of today is actually getting me excited about next season. Too bad KOC is going to screw it up by resigning 3/4 of this team.

haha, me too. sounds to me like Al and Paul are gone. We can only hope Mo is gone too. Marvin and Randy might be back, but that will be ok if we don't sign any more vet wings. Maybe Marv can play some 4...

Millsap kinda elusive, said he thought he has been treated fairly in Utah. Asked about where he wants to be next season, said he doesn't know, plans to talk to his family about it and see what happens this summer.
Doesn't sound like he is to worried about switching teams.

I don't think he will be back.

We have to sign someone. Marvin would be any expiring contract.

The salary floor is going to be about 52 Mil. With Marvin opting and us picking up Kevin Murphy's option in we have about 25.5 Mil commited for 7 players. We are required to play 6-8 players at least 26.5 Mil.

Our two first round picks and a our second will make about a combined 4.5 mil.

If we resign Foye (2.5 Mil again) and Carroll (2.5), then we will still need another 17.5 mil of salary.

Millsap makes me sad. With favors and Kanter starting he would be an absolute stud coming in off the bench. Plus, if any injuries or anything else happened he could slide right into the starting line-up without missing a beat. But, alas, he wants more. He's worked hard so I can't say he doesn't deserve it, I just wanted him to be a Jazz man for life.

:(

Al Jefferson: "I think I have shown that I'm not just the black hole that I've had the reputation of being in past years."

I think he has gotten better about passing the ball. He will never be great but he is not abysmal anymore either. I will say below average. As for the resot of the team going stagnate when he has the ball. To be honest I place that on them more than on Big Al. They know they are supposed to cut and move without the ball. Big Al having the ball in hi shands does not change that. They may not get the ball but they are still supposed to move and rotate.

DMC said that he had a good meeting, that the management was really pleased with his interaction with the fans, the fan bowling nights, his attitude about playing time and that they would like to have him back.
Said he wants to be a Jazzman as long as they will let him.
Said he wanted tape of Bruce Bowen, and that he wants to improve on his corner three's.
