What's new

Official MLB 2015 Thread

Just so you know, franklin, I'm not just a hater. I've been to Coors field, and had a great time. It's a great facility and Rockies fans were gracious and accommodating. I would love to get back there soon. But their TV announcers are just meh.

I get that announcers are going to have bias. I'm cool with that. But some are better than others. For instance, as a Giants fan, I hate the Dodgers. Hate them. But I could listen to Vin Scully all day long. He's very good at what he does. Extremely knowledgable about the game and knows what to say. The Padres guys are actually fairly easy to listen to (I believe Dick Enberg calls SD games). There are others around the league that are pretty good. Most of the time I can get the Giants feed. But when they play AZ or CO, I have to listen to their announcers, and they seem to have just enough baseball knowledge to get by. They spend lots of time talking about random crap.

I really don't know a damn thing about baseball which might be why I like them. I've heard the complaints here over the years but just don't get it. Maybe I'm so used to banal NBA announcing that anything above soccer's goooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal is an upgrade.

Baseball is a much more intelligent audience than pretty much any sport. I think the bar for announcing is set high.

Rockies announcers are soooooo bad.

I don't know names, but one of the dudes is just insanely irritating.

I agree, the bar is much higher for baseball broadcasters, but I think it's due to the the historical popularity of baseball on the radio - or its historical popularity in general. Broadcasting developed much differently in baseball compared to the NBA and NFL.

I don't watch the Rockies much outside of when they play the Cubs and Giants, and I never watch their broadcasts when I do watch them - so I can't speak much on their broadcasters. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if they're in the bottom half simply because of the nature of the market to which they are catering. Of course, there are always exceptions.

Russell with the game winning homer yesterday. Cubs are looking good. The Brewers are terrible.

I'm a Phillies fan.

My season is already over. Hopefully we get something for Hammels so we can compete in 5+ years.

This is funny: Torii

Meanwhile, it is June.

It will be interesting to see how the Astros and Twins finish the season. More interesting, however, will be the excuses franklin conjures up as the season progresses.

Clayon Kershaw dealing fire yesterday....making Mike Trout look silly....Angles/Dodgers in a SoCal metro area of 20 million people......stadium half full. That's what we call Baseball. How do you stay away from that stadium with Kershaw picthing like he is? And Greinke? Both fire. You bring a RV and park it in the lot and never go home.
