How many SL MVP's have become stars in the league?
Conversely, how did Gobert do in his first SL? Just relax, Lyles is a project. As for Booker, whose minutes was he going to take: Hayward's, Hood's or Burks'? I'd take any of those three over Booker.

I just say what Pelton says in the podcast. Lyles is 12 pick. he should have shown he was good for something in 5 times! Booker would have been great for 10 minutes a game this year. Lyles probably does not play much, but maybe? I just don't see it from him and that includes college. Kentucky is my favorite team and I know alot about it.

No one is saying he is the mvp, he just looked really good today. Personally I'd rather have him develop into Burks' role and have Burks traded. I believe his skillset would compliment our team more so than Burks'. Here's to hoping Hood stays healthy this year.

Lyles is a project, that if I he works out, will be a much more valuable piece than Booker. Booker is a 3 and D guy without the D. If you are drafting for summer league, you go with Booker. If you are trying to manufacture something out of the #12 pick, you look for things a little differently. Booker was worth a 12 pick, but will probably not be a top 10 player from this draft. Lyles has a chance of doing that at a position and skill set that is harder to find. It's the Trey Burke lesson. Jazz liked Glannis, but discarded measurable for the more polished, yet less athletic Burke. They probably won't make that mistake again. Fortunately the backup plan was all world. . .

Pretty lazy analysis. What evidence do you have that Booker won't be able to D up in the NBA? Did he play poor defense at Kentucky? Do you have specific examples you can provide? Booker has shown that he can score in other ways outside of the 3. More than half his points today were from ways other than shooting the three.

I dont think you are saying this from a postional of stength? I dont think any one outside of a few delusions think Lyles has the potential to be a top player from this draft. a decent one yes, but some of you just keep acting like he is a super star in the making. Booker has LEGIT ELITE skills that have translated. Lyles had no elite skill and he sucks in SL. Im not even suprise he is not good. just confirming what I believe about him.

Ha ha I m not a commie! I know you know about KY and I am sure you say it already a hundred times about what you think, But I cant see what makes anyone think Lyles is a good strecth 4 sniper form any evidence we see of him. Booker is an assasain. He just seems hungrier than Trey too which I like.

This is an accurate post. Whoever you are an alt of... You're far better than your alter-ego.

I guess we'll see if you're smarter than DL and Quin. They saw elite BBIQ, passing and balance for a big man.

I'm not going to lie; I was mad after the pick. Not that I wanted Booker, I just thought Lyles was a terrible shooter. But I'm willing to give DL the benefit of the doubt on this one. They've been at this thing for a long time and have just a "little" more knowledge than I do.

You guys expect too much from a 12 pick. If he turns out to be a 15-20 min a night guy, then it was a great pick.

I don't know if the game is on NBA TV, but the Jazz play the Lakers, 4:30 Mountain time, today. I'll be watching on the game time app.....

I have recorded all of the summer league Jazz games, but have yet to watch them. From the comments that I've read, I believe that all we really need from Lyles is quality backup performances. We hopefully have Gobert and Favors locked up for the long-term future so we really don't need an additional star at the power forward position. Honestly, other than backup PG, I am really pleased with our lineup and am content with allowing the cake to bake. Again, it's not like Lyles was a top 3 pick. If he turns into a good player, that is just another luxury.

Good for you. I will still say my thoughts you can just do whatever it is you do? Maybe everyone should just agree everything DL does? GMS make. mistake as often!!!! They are not WIZARDS!!!! You go back be Borg I will have my thoughts.

And alts make mistakes as often, too. Is it possible DL made a mistake? Certainly. Sure looks like he screwed the pooch with the Burke pick. Of course, he was quick to distance himself from it so perhaps he was outvoted at draft time. But is it possible me and you were wrong? No question. Read my posts after the draft. I was hyper-critical. I'm at least willing to entertain the possibility DL knows a little more than I do. Unfortunately, they didn't invite me to the draft workouts so I was unable to see what they did from a player who had a very disappointing season at UK.

And now that Lyles IS a Jazz player, I'm going to hope he turns into a very good one, even if that means I have to eat crow. I'm not going to root for his failure just so I can say, "I told you so." And the same applies with Burke. Hated the pick, but I wanted him to succeed. Now I'm 90% sure I can say "I told you so" with him, but I'm very sad if I was right.
