OFFICIAL: Trade Deadline Thread

Do people know that you must save your trade in trade machine before posting it? It sure does not seem like that is the case.

Great question.

I'm wondering how our roster flexibility is factoring into these talks. We have a full roster, so how do we trade BOTH Al and Paul when most deals probably have us taking back more players? Etc.

It should make no difference. We can trade Bell's expiring or Murphy or Evans, both of who mean nuthing and both of who are nuthing.

Well I obviously don`t.

Lakers out: Pau Gasol
Lakers in: S Jax, Bell, Blair

LAC out: Bledsoe, Odom
LAC in: Millsap, Neal

Spurs out: S Jax, Blair, Neal
Spurs in: Jefferson

Jazz out: Jefferson, Millsap, Bell
Jazz in: Gasol, Bledsoe, Odom

Correct, but this **** costs dough. Does Greggy want to open up the wallet?

Obviously Bell, Murphy, and Watson are adding basically nothing to the win column.

Ppl Greggy is paying Bell to sit in Miami right now. If he waives him he doesn't lose any money.

A team must create open roster spots before the trade takes place and can't waive an incoming player. It can waive an incoming player IF they have roster spots to insert them into their roster. So any trade of 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 would mean the Jazz would have to waive one or two players on the roster beforehand.

But Raja gets more after he signs with another team and THAT'S NOT FAIR. I have a 7-yr old child and fairness is a BIG DEAL to her. I imagine it has the same importance to Greggy Boy.

Matt Moore @HPbasketball Atlanta's doing this perfectly. Trade value on Smith going up up up with suitors.

Isn't Atlanta leaking rumours about his availability and the players they may want in return. As opposed to the Jazz method of keeping everyone guessing if they are going to make a trade and if so which player would be available.

Also caught this from Brian Colangelo, toronto GM:

Sam Amick @sam_amick : Colangelo called Bargnani situation "fluid,"said Rudy Gay's presence changed dynamics & now less urgency to move him- usatoday.com/story/sports/n…

Using the media to up the asking price for a player everyone knows is going to move. Not sure if it works for Bargs, but I admire Colangelo's effort. If you only have one bidder, and the starting price is low this is a good strategy. Maybe that is what KOL have been doing all along?

So, it's possible that the Lakers are open to the idea of trading Dwight. If that's the case, then other deals may be put on hold while this all shakes out.

In other words, if Clips can get Dwight for Bledsoe/Odom/Jordan, then the Millsap thing probably isn't going to happen. The Jazz will need a back-up plan. The other possibility would be a Brooklyn deal or Houston deal......or no deal. A team isn't going to trade for Dwight unless they think he'll re-sign with them.

Raja for Dwight anyone?

Okay, follow my logic (what little there is) ----

Houston makes a move for Al Jefferson or Paul Millsap to clear cap room to sign Dwight this summer. Although, I'm not sure how much salary the Jazz would want to take back. This gives the Rockets more leverage in a Dwight trade negotiation.

Brooklyn: See Houston.
