Official UofU homer thread

How much of that was a result of playing from behind? It changes the dynamic a lot when you have to score quickly.

I realize that, referring to the 1st half when we could have mixed some more run plays in instead of relying on wilson a little too much

Sure, but It's weird to negate your best weapon(Booker) while simultaneously showing off your QB's greatest weakness. The coaching staff deserves a lot of the blame. They too get hyper analyzed. That's just how it is.

This is what I was trying to say but am a bit emotional during games, Wilson is to blame for deciding to throw the ball but I feel like they thought they were being aggressive by calling pass plays but those routes/calls were conservative short routes, which the U normally calls anyway but normally they're running the ball more.

IMO they should keep running it as Booker is the best player but they need to mix in the QB run and a few different type of option plays to mix up the run plays and use Booker as a decoy as a change of pace as well as play action pass more, but who knows maybe they do not have the personal to do that successfully (like different screens plays) and that's why they don't/can't run them.

At any rate, not unexpected other then how they lost as USC is just way to talented to lose 3 games in a row and I am still happy and optimistic for the season overall. Winning the PAC12 South is and would be a HUGE accomplishment but I want the players to stew in this for the night and maybe tomorrow so they remember how this feels and not let it happen again. I still think they are right around a top 10 team overall and will need to improve to be a playoff contention team and so again overall that is a VERY good season and while the playoffs would be great that doesn't mean it is not a successful season if they don't get in and that's what's great about being in the PAC12 even with 1 loss they can still get into the playoffs but the way the played today they would get creamed by Stanford. Luckily that game wouldn't happen for another month and a half so plenty of time to improve and grow.

yep.

Wilson deserves blame for not running it himself when nothing was available other than that it's on Utah coaching and USC playing a good game.

Incredible.

BYU's freshmen backup QB is 100x better than Utah's 4 year starting QB.

How is it possible that you go 7 years without properly replacing Brian Johnson?

This game is 100 percent on Wilson. He essentially threw 2 td passes for USC. He was clearly their best offensive player! Game ball goes to Wilson!

As far as using Booker, you have to mix the pass in with the run. You can't run Booker every play. The pass plays called were conservative. The passes themselves? Inexcusable. You can't throw the ball late across the middle with a linebacker in front and a safety behind the receiver.

Onc Utah fell behind they couldn't use Booker. That game got away from Utah and quickly!

You are up in the night of you can't see how this is 100 percent on Wilson. The dude Threw not 1 but 2 pick 6s! You can do that and still win against Wagner or weber St. But not against USC.

Why is that?

O State, Arizona, and Colorado? All very winnable games.

UCLA is not a gimme (none of them are) but I still like our chances. We play them at home, and they are vulnerable to physical defenses.

Your heart is reading way too much into this game. You want to write Utah off, but the division is still theirs to lose.

I'm betting they take a lot away from this loss.

Yes those are winnable games, just like USC was supposed to be winnable. Maybe your right and Utah really rallies around this loss and plays better. Ill guess it breaks them a little since they dont trust their QB anymore and had their title hopes broken.

How many beers does it take to forget a loss like this? This is new territory for me.
Go to whiskey. It will do the trick

Better head out and get a bottle of whiskey

edit; don't drive
Beat me to it.

I'm drinking that bourbon whiskey currently.

Forgetting all kinds of ****

14 rushes for Booker is unacceptable and goes against everything we've done this point. so i agree this loss isn't solely on wilson
This. But it mostly on Wilson
