Official UofU homer thread

I wonder who the last QB is to get picked off by the same LB three times in a game. Has it ever happened?

^ the usc lb made good reads, but you are right they were around the same area, with wilson staring down the receiver those were predictable passes. The passing game is still unreliable and has been all season, we've just been able to get away with it up until this point thanks to strong defensive play and wilson not making dumb throws. guess it was inevitable at some point wilson's poor decision he's shown through the years would show up. think it's the coordinator's job to recognize when your qb is out of sorts, we should have ran the ball a helluva lot more against usc in the 1st half. we put it on wilson to make the play and it cost us.

Dropped to 13 & 14 in the polls which sounds about right. still every week utah will have to grind games out because that's what we do. We should still be favorite to win the south but at this point gotta figure Stanford is the favorite to win the pac-12 championship, their offense looks way better than it was last year. our offense still has issues.

Glad someone else noticed it so I wasn't just imagining it, I saw the "highlights" Sunday night and thought I saw it again basically every pass was to the side hash marks around 4'ish yards deep, again it's Wilson's fault for throwing it but I also still think that is bad play design/call. Again if I'm not mistaken it was more of a max protect in that the TE or RB stayed in to block however the routes ran are all short no one deep to make the LB move, on one of the INT's I think both the RB and TE stayed into block (the one that was thrown towards Covey) if I had to guess it was the 1st or maybe 2nd one the 3rd one was to the TE on the opposite hash mark as the other two INT's.

If personnel is keeping them from being more diverse in play calling then they just aren't as good as we hoped but I still believe they can run the table or lose 1 more game which again is still a good season and while it wouldn't be as good as it could have been it still will be a good season that I'd be proud and happy with.

I will save my worries about next season until the off season, with a lot of senior leadership graduating/moving to the NFL, next season will be a bigger indication of how far the program has come.

Let me just say this...

6-1.

Six wins, one loss.

That's AWESOME.

I had the team at 4-3 at this point of the season.

While it's a bummer we lost to USC, they deserved the win and we deserved the loss. And we still have so much to play for.

Life is good. Can't wait for Saturday night's game - and not only because it means I don't have to stay at home and put up with trick or treaters.

4-3? Really?

I actually feel bad for Gary Andersen this weekend. They are going to face a mad Utah team looking to beat someone up. OSU is just too young and small. It will be an ugly game for OSU.

Yep

I had utah going 9-3 before the season began. Still have hope

I guess I could see 4-3. Losses to USC, Oregon and ASU?

I didn't buy into Oregon at all. They just lost a top 3 QB in the history of college football (ok, top 10), had a suspect defense, problems on the OL and a small FCS transfer that was supposed to save them. I still had them at 9 wins, but they weren't your usual Oregon team. Utah getting them early...I liked Utah's chances.

Same with ASU. ASU had won the last two games by crazy situations. For example, we dropped two INT's and missed two FG's last year vs ASU. I didn't see them losing to ASU.

I picked Utah to lose to USC, so, yeah, I saw that coming. USC is USC and Utah would be in a place (highly ranked vs a down USC team) that they aren't used to. That game had loss written all over it. No biggie.

I just don't get 4-3 right now. Utah was good before the season began. Utah and USC finished last year 9-4. USC started out in the top 10...Utah started out unranked. Utah brought more players back. In fact, they really only lost Nate Orchard from last year. Utah should have started out top 15 in the preseason rankings.

I just don't see how Utah being 6-1 right now is any sort of a surprise. I also picked Stanford to win the North. Again, any sort of digging would show you that Oregon was flawed, Cal's schedule was just too tough.

Anyhow...whateve's....

I said all along we're not going undefeated so I'm not off the "bandwagon", losing to USC in cali is not the end of the season, we have a real chance at representing the Pac 12 in the CFP just need to handle business and win the south. At the end of the season losing to USC could be a turning point that we all look back on.

I don't think even the most deluded Ute fan expected to get through the whole season unscathed.

Utah is still in a great position. They still control their own destiny. If they can take care of business, they don't have to rely on anyone else.

The pebble is ours to snatch.

Hehe, you said snatch...
