Official UofU homer thread

Cal suffered the fate of a ****ty offensive line. You can have the most dominant skill position players in the world, but if your line sucks, you can only do so much.

And if it wasn't for a Cal WR dropping a TD and a Cal WR dropping a first down in the red zone that directly led to a INT?

I wouldn't say either team controlled this game. Way too many TO's to say anyone was in control. Both teams had 0 control the entire game.

See yourself out of the Conversation please. Honestly don't care what the trolls think. Plus there's a 99% chance your trying to steer the pot in every which direction.

That's not trolling, that what happened. I said Utah played great, but let's not act like Cal's WR didnt drop some huge passes that would have led directly to points and dropped a pass that ended up in a Utah's CB's hands.

To say anyone had control in a mistake laden affair is ridiculous. Utah nearly lost on a game winning drive from Cal, that doesn't scream control to me.

Utah won the game in the second half thanks to a great run game and making plays on defense Utah for the most part controlled the second half. I will agree the first half was pretty chaotic.

Also, one of Utah's CB got away with targeting very early in the game. I'm not 100% on the rules, but I've seen players thrown out for less.

Cal outscored Utah 7-6 in the 2nd half.

All props to Utah's defense and stuff, but damn Utah walked away with one. Travis Wilson did his best to lose the game for Booker and the defense.

Let's not sit here and act like Cal is a great team. They have 0 quality wins, havent won a ranked game in ages, and were 5-7 last year.

I would probably give Utah the #1 ranking this week.

They will quickly lose it to LSU and A&M though. Both those teams will leap-frog Utah if they win this upcoming week.

LSU plays Florida and A&M plays Bama.

Regardless of what u think. Utah was in control of the second half. Utah ran their game plan to perfection in the second half. Cal is known for having an explosive offense. Holding them to 7 points in the second half is hella good. Only hiccup was the Booker fumble. Coach Whit did exactly what I thought he would in the second half. Playing fairly conservative and make it almost impossible for Cal to score enough points.

I will say the Utes got extremely lucky they had a penalty on that fake punt attempt. That was a stupid play call if anything, and the way Booker was running they should've just let him run if they were hellbent on not giving Goff the ball at that point.

I don't think that's fair to Cal players. Yes they were outmatched but it was by one of the best D-lines in cfb. Pease has definitely added even more intelligence to an already disciplined line.

Michigan's line caught some flack after their game here (Link) which I thought was nuts. They played great imo they just had a tough opponent.

Don't get me wrong I think that Cal's line is average but look for them to 'bounce back' in the coming weeks.

Sure, Utah does seem to have some very good D-Line players, but there were snaps where linemen where getting to Goff practically unimpeded (and not like a screen pass or anything). It seemed like nearly every snap he had pressure.

Watching Cal was almost a carbon-copy version of watching Miss St. this year with the offensive line play. It wouldn't be such a huge deal if Cal had more discipline to rushing the ball (which they were rushing fairly well). It always felt like Cal was panicking in the 2nd half trying to score too quickly when they could have been more methodical with running plays to take pressure off Goff.
