That was a fumble. His arm moves forward without the ball. They just didn't have the balls to overrule it. It looks like an empty hand moving forward to me. College replay officials just don't seem to like to overturn calls unless they are absolutely 110% sure that it was the wrong call. In the NFL that would be over turned.

Yup, 100% a fumble in the NFL. I honestly get so confused with some of the rules in college, buf if their rules are the same as the NFL's in this regard, then the refs blew it. Empty hand going forward = easy call (at least in NFL).

Huge call too, as USC scored a TD immediately after that.

Don't think it's as easy as some here think. It looks to me that he starts his forward motion just before the ball begins to slip out (very close either way). If they ruled it as incomplete on the field, I don't see conclusive evidence to overturn it.

The moment I saw the replay I knew it was too close to overturn. They need irrefutable evidence and the video does not meet that standard. If it had been called a fumble on the field that call would have stood as well.

Is it Broncster that's the Ducks fan? Why he isn't he in here this morning telling us how Utah doesn't belong in the Pac 12 because they bring down the curve for illustrious programs such as his beloved Oregon?

Ok, on to this week. I watched Cal in the opening game against Hawaii and I immediately felt like it was going to be a definite "W" for Utah. Now, I'm not so sure. Their defense is still epically awful but now I have doubts about whether or not Utah can hold them under 35 points. Utah should win the game, but it's definitely not going to be easy.
