Losing Salt is a bummer, but it's not a back breaker. That D-line is so deep, that barring any other major injuries to that unit, Utah shouldn't skip a beat. Let Salt take the year off and get him completely healthy. Next year Utah loses Star and one of the Krugers and that is when they will really need him.

yeah heard this on my drive home, said he doesn't know when or how it was broken. I know every football player must have a high pain tolerance but hard to imagine not noticing a bone breaking in your foot (heard that via Kall700 interview with coach Whitt).
It sucks yes but first I hope he can come back healthy, stronger and better than ever next year and secondly like was said previously in the grand scheme of things for balancing out future turnover it is a big bright silver lining.

Man, as a Ute fan my faith in Whit has never been stronger. I was just reading an article about BYU's latest scrimmage and Bronco was asked how the 3 young QB's looked that will be vying for the starting spot next year. His answer: "I actually wasn't paying much attention other than there didn't seem to be much difference".
Wow.
Although this does make it easier to understand how Bronco mishandled the Heaps/Nelson situation from the very beginning. Hard to stay on top of things if you're not "paying much attention".

Looks like Travis Wilson is making a push for the starting QB spot. While I still think Wynn will be under center on August 30th, it will be Wilson's spot on a permanent basis before the season is over.

I hope not. Not because I don't like Wilson, but because in order for that to happen... Wynn is going to melt down. I don't think Wilson will be able to win the starting job during the season unless Wynn fails as a starter this year.
I personally think Coach is just trying to light a fire under Wynn with the Wilson comments.

It is not uncommon for a Coach to push his players harder even when he knows that they have the starting gig "locked up".
Also, I like how you combined both the word retard and Utah to create utard. That "put down" was extremely clever. I hope one day I have the creativity that you have.

I think Wilson is going to be an elite pac12 QB when its all said and done but he needs to red shirt even if he is the most talented QB right now. Wynn will play alright, get hurt and Hays will fill in
This wouldn't surprise me a bit.

After the latest scrimmage, it sounds like Wynn is definitely the starter. With that being said, I still don't think you'll see Wilson get redshirted. Hays will remain the #2 but Utah loves Wilson's skill set in the running department. I can easily see Utah creating a "Wilson" package that they run a few times each game.
