I don't think some of you realize what the true reason for trading him was. It was never because he sucked. We all knew he was a double double machine. But the Jazz just did not have enough money to pay for both he and Gobert. We have talked about Kanter's upcoming free agency for months now. Most of us realized that Kanter was going to be too expensive.
It wasn't because of money. The cap is going to jump significantly over the next two years. Kanter got traded because he wanted out and keeping him to increase his value would've meant continuing to start him over the guy who deserved the starting spot. Bad situation, otherwise I doubt Utah would have yielded to Kanter's wishes.
