What's new

Okur to make his return tonight in New Orleans

I'm super excited and proud. Memo has worked hard, proved his competitive spirit and did anything he could do to come back from a devastating injury. His injury was a result of his competitiveness, heartiness and will to help the team no matter how his stats would be affected, while some of his teammates took days off when the Jazz played deciding games of the season. Memo's importance for this team is proven time after time. Like every player, Memo's performances, aibilities and deficiencies are long questioned, rightfully so, by us but I think his approach to the team game, humanity and commitment to winning and to the team cannot and should be a question mark anymore, especially after having to witness some players' waiting and waiting and waiting to be "%110 healthy to be back" while keeping telling "I'm getting better everyday, just being out there and being with my guys".

However, I think Memo should not push himself in a hurry to come back. He has had only one full scrimmage and is said to feel %80 OK - I never figured out how players can evaluate themselves by giving such numbers. The Jazz are talented enough to hang in top 4-5 of the West. I remember him pushing himself hard during Natinoal Team's workouts, scrimmages in 2007 summer, causing him a head-case half season with ruthless injuries. I hope he and the coaching staff will make the logical decisions. I think the Jazz organization has always been careful and approached logically to such cases.

I had no idea he was even close to being ready. Hope he knocks down a few shots tonight, that would be sweet.

Yeah, okay. I guess another thing I wanted to mention but I thought would appear ludicrous is that I want the Jazz to keep Evans as much off-the-radar as they can get away with this year. If he gets regular minutes, the Jazz will get Matthews-ed. The kid is special.

if jazz learn from their mistakes and dont say to the players: "let the market set your price" they wont get mathews-ed

The only thing the Jazz failed to put into their calculations is that a team with too much money would throw all of it at Matthews out of spite. Whether Matthews is worthy of that money or not will be determined, but at the time that was an absolutely retardedly huge offer relative to what he brought to the table and their team's needs.

Long story short, the Jazz did absolutely nothing wrong.

The Jazz disappointed me so bad that I cannot really think of any positives right now. Memo looked OK but needs some time to adjust, and players -especially Watson- should get a better understandig of Memo's game. He is not %100, as he stated before.

It's Memo's fault we lost this game.
The whole team was so excited to get him back, they thought his 10 minutes would put them over the top.
Stinking Memo for coming back.

My other theory is that Hayward's voodoo doll ended up taking the powers from the rest of the team... and it only got him 7 points. Not a good trade. We need someone to find the voodoo doll, and take all of the pins out. Trout... you up for a field trip?

Hayward is simply more important than Evans. He has the opportunity to be a great player. Not saying Evans can't have a great career, but this team would benefit more from Hayward playing like he should.

Based on....

college?

Summer league play?

This season?

Jeez. If things were based on college KG, Kobe, Lebron, and Dwight would all be paying homage to Emeka, tyler Hansborough, and that white redneck looking guy who played at Gonzaga.

If we're basing things on summer league play, then Mo Almond would be an allstar.

If we're basing our judgment on what this season has shown, it's that:

#1 Evans and Hayward need to play and develop their games.
#2 Hayward is needing the Dleague much more than Evans. He looks completely lost out there and is lacking confidence.
#3 While Evans could use the Dleague too, he's already shown that he can contribute to this club. Other than 1 lucky left handed dunk, what has Hayward shown?
#4 Hayward gives us nothing right now. Not defense, not scoring, and certainly not shooting. Evans, at the very least, can block shots and ignite the crowd with sweet dunks.
#5 Hayward becomes much more expendable now with Memo back. We should have a decent amount of shooters. Evans provides us something that no one else on our team can, athleticism.

Free Evans. Let Hayward adjust to the NBA in baby steps in the D-League.

Hey, this strategy has worked in retaining Fesenko for peanuts for the past four years lol
