What's new

Okur to make his return tonight in New Orleans

Huh, no such thing as IR now, sorry but Evans still has a lot to learn.

Of course he does. Deron has a lot to learn as well. Everyone has a lot to learn.

Evans can actually contribute even with Memo coming back.

I'm not so sure I can say that same about Hayward.... Hayward has been pretty worthless this year. Apart from that cool left handed dunk, he hasn't done anything.

We need him to take a couple 3's tonight. Shooting is nothing he hasn't been doing for at least a month or so at this point... he can do that.

Ahh. the edit feature isn't working.

Also, Hayward's "shooting" becomes even more expendable now with Memo back. Besides, Hayward wasn't making anything anyway....

I think Hayward could benefit the most being dropped to the D-league to regain confidence. Evans meanwhile, has shown the ability to make plays. He provides us something that no one else on our team does. Taking him out doesn't have near the benefit has sending Hayward down to Orem.

The Jazz have more players who can play the 2- Raja, CJ, Price, Deron, Hayward- than can play the 3- AK, CJ, Hayward, Evans (not Millsap...)- so I'm a little surprised to see Hayward dressing ahead of Evans, especially since AK will likely play a bit at the 4 while Memo works his way back from injury. Maybe Raja isn't 100%.

Or maybe because it looks real real REAL crappy putting the #9 dude on the IR or sending him to Orem while keeping the #55 pick active and playing.

I truly hope that's not the case...

All I know is I'd rather have Evans available than Hayward. But they're both headed to Orem anyway, sad as it is for Evans.

I highly doubt coach Sloan thinks or operates that way. He has a method to his madness, and I trust he is doing what he thinks is best. I can accept that. Still I wonder what the reasoning is.

IMO, the D-League is there to give players an opportunity to build confidence or shake off rust when they can't perform in the NBA. Evans has no need to go down there even if he's not playing with the Jazz. Dude is a legit NBA player and has no use for the D-League since most of his play comes from other team-mates, length, athleticism, and pure energy. I'm not sure what confidence, rhythm, or particular skill he would work on there.

Hayward on the other hand is an absolutely perfect candidate.
