IMO, the D-League is there to give players an opportunity to build confidence or shake off rust when they can't perform in the NBA. Evans has no need to go down there even if he's not playing with the Jazz. Dude is a legit NBA player and has no use for the D-League since most of his play comes from other team-mates, length, athleticism, and pure energy. I'm not sure what confidence, rhythm, or particular skill he would work on there.

Hayward on the other hand is an absolutely perfect candidate.

I basically agree with you. And I'll cry myself to sleep when Evans goes. But there is an advantage to it. He obviously has no post game and I'm not sure if he even knows how to take a jumpshot. So giving him an open arena to take shots and practice moves in the paint does have some value. It's a good laboratory for him, whereas Hayward just needs to get confidence in himself.
 
It's so strange, I don't like Okur at all, but I'm kind of excited for him to return. :/

Yeah, okay. I guess another thing I wanted to mention but I thought would appear ludicrous is that I want the Jazz to keep Evans as much off-the-radar as they can get away with this year. If he gets regular minutes, the Jazz will get Matthews-ed. The kid is special.

Do we even know what his situation is? I thought he was on the Millsap track as a second round pick meaning we have protections on him. He's listed as having a salary and Cap hold for next season which leads me to believe it's a formality that he comes back.
 
Hayward is simply more important than Evans. He has the opportunity to be a great player. Not saying Evans can't have a great career, but this team would benefit more from Hayward playing like he should.

I think hoopshype (as imperfect as it is) just revised what they have for Evans as they have him for 2 years guaranteed. That seems unusual to me, but I believe he'd be an RFA so long as he's tenured for less than 3 years. But if it's two years guaranteed, the Jazz might as well play him. If it is two years guaranteed, I don't have any idea why the Jazz wouldn't also own a 3rd year team option.

I thought Evans had a 1-year non-guaranteed (a la Matthews last year) deal. Maybe not.

Evans deal isn't guaranteed as of yet, but I'm not sure that makes a difference so long as they pick it up. Kenwood would have to clarify this, but I believe the Jazz retain options on Evans every year going forward until he becomes a true RFA like Millsap. But then there was some mildly unusual thing they did with Sap that I can't quite remember. Anyway, I don't think we have to worry about him getting away.
