Paul George Makes Allstar Team, Hayward, Not So Much

Hey, just relax. This is a morrowthon not a sprint, and tomorrow Hayward will be a better player because thats what Jazz players do.

When Alvin Robertson made the All-star team in 1986 I bet everyone on Jazzfanz was freaking out that Stockton was a bust. It had alot to do with the ammount of minutes Robintson was playing while Stockton was comming off the bench behind a veteran. Robertsen made the All-star squad 2 more times before Stockton finally made it in 1989. Luckily the Jazz were 'resting' the young Stockton so that he didn't get worn out 14 years later, that is all that is happeing with Hayward. Well, Stockton is top 50 greatest players ever, and has unbeatable records and once walked on the Great Salt Lake. I bet you have to go google Roberson just to find out who he was.

Trust me, in 2027 we will all be debating if Hayward should be considered an all-time top 5 sg or a top 5 sf, and Paul George will be just another guy with two first names.

I am very happy with what Hayward has become and might grow into. He has stretches where he is amazing, and others where he disappears. Part of the reason why his stats aren't great is at the beginning of the season he started with Milsap/AJ/M&M Williams. Between Mo and AJ, and even Milsap, there isn't much room for Hayward to do what he is good at. Now he is coming off the bench, and he plays fewer minutes, but does more. I hope we see what he can do with 34 minutes and more control of the offense next year, because it could be very good.

And I don't care if Paul George is an all-star. I doubt he would be on the Jazz. And as long as Hayward plays well, who cares who was picked after him.
 
Being an All-star is so overrated. Nevertheless, George certainly deserved to make the Eastern team. I like both players and find it funny how many Jazz fans have to put down the other player simply to make their guy look better. Homerism at its best especially the comment about Hayward being a top 5 SF by the time he retires. AK was once considered a top 10 player in the NBA after his one All-star appearance. You just never know what will happen with a players career.
 
This sounds a lot like the Dwill/Cp3 argument. Everyone here will say Hayward is better now, but as soon as he leaves in free agency, everyone here will show their true hater colors and start saying how much better Paul George is. Its only a matter of time. All this Hayward defending is really just KOC defending. I like Hayward but wanted George. I think KOC really just got lucky that Hayward is a much better defender than he was projected to be. I think it was more of a white boy face of the team cutesy pick. When the pick happened I about threw up because I knew George was going to be good and it looked a lot like we were trying to pick the nice guy. I still believe thats why KOC picked him. He just got lucky. Hayward could have easily been a bust.
 
We picked Hayward get over it everyone. He turned out to be a top 5 player of his draft class and after all that fail picks we have seen over the years we should be grateful about it.

Every pick is lucky, according to this logic. Just about any player could've been a bust. Even top 10 picks aren't surefire stars, or even starters.

He doesn't need these things, he's god.

If Indiana had taken Hayward and we had taken George, we'd be wondering why we picked PG. over Hayward. Do any of you think George would be playing 37 minutes with the Jazz, and we are trying to play Hayward the same way Indiana plays George.
 
George was my pick in the draft. I was pissed. Was comforted when I saw Hayward in preseason. I've liked George's numbers, but as mentioned if you compare per minute they're strikingly similar. The only difference is that Hayward has a coach with his head up his ***.

Watching Foye try to play defense against Kobe is comical.
 
George is much better than Hayward, but I don't think that was obvious before the draft. And Hayward is good, so it's not like drafting him was a mistake. The mistake would be to overrate Hayward and not try to deal him for a better player, or even worse extend him after this season when we don't have to. I'm very curious to see what we do on this.

George being an All-Star has more to do with a dearth of talent in the East than him actually being an elite player.

Oh, and they're both 22. Back in my day, players used to start their NBA careers at that age, but yes, let's make knee jerk reactions.
