I'm done picking sides but even ESPN is pointing out one if our biggest problems. Donovans man is averaging 32 ppg. If he plays an iota of defense this series is 3-0.

And before I get it Rudy has been equally as worthless.

Was reading a bleacher report article Titled realistic trades fans wouldn’t see coming. There were trade scenarios, one for Don, and one for Gobert. The one for DM was trash, sexton Okoro, and Markkanen a 2022 second from spurs and a 2025 first and a first in 2027 so I’m ignoring that. We could get much better for Don.

Trade for Gobert.

  1. Chicago Bulls receive: Rudy Gobert and Rudy Gay
Utah Jazz receive: Nikola Vucevic, Patrick Williams and Coby White
Personally I’d rather trade Mitchell, but that Gobert haul is interesting we get back another top center who can score inside or out, and is one of the best passers from the center position. Which adds a new dimension to this offense. Coby White gives us some more size on the guard line and much younger then the almost over the hill Conley. Getting Williams could be the big prize here, he’s the long athletic wing we’ve been needing, and is a really good shooter. The big risk is can he stay healthy? Adding these players to Mitchell, Bogey, and JC and Conley could be the kick in the pants they need and give Mitchell new life maybe

Thoughts?

Oh, and it’s a better trade then what LoPo wants to do.

I like the idea if this trade is offered. I need to study up more on Williams and White. Their contracts are up soon for renewal, but Vucevic expires after next year.

This fits Chicago's timeline perfectly.

SAC is always desperate to win now and never does, how many of their picks do you think we could get them to throw at Donovan if we took Barnes/DD as the matching salary (maybe other minor pieces involved).

In all honesty we could build around either of DM or Rudy. The problem is we cannot (or simply did not) add the right players to build around them both. If Mitchell were a true facilitator it would be different, but he isn't. If Mitchell put 1/100 of the effort he plays on offense into defense it would be different. One of them has to go, and we have to make a concerted effort to build around the other one. My opinion, we get more from Mitchell than Gobert, so we take the biggest return we can get and surround Gobert with 3&D wings and a decent facilitator. Even Brogdon would have been way better than what we have now. Brogdon (or a Brogdon-type player) instead of Conley would have been a game-changer.

Either way the FO needs to find a way to develop a better winning philosophy and add the players that fill in the gaps and close off the weaknesses, not just "oh we need some 3 point shooters, don't care if they play D or are athletic, as long as they can hit an open 3...oh and we need Doke for...uh...reasons". There hasn't been a concerted effort from the FO to build a team around a winning philosophy, just adding shooters. They need a complete change of direction and someone with a better eye to building an all-around team to get us there. Maybe that is Ainge, who knows? But something big has to change. We cannot roll out the same team next year with another old vet that cannot play added to placate anyone who says they don't add players. Enough is enough.
