We've been over this, jack***. A fetus isn't identified as a person. I don't see them as people, and no government body does either.

Therefore, it's not if you kill 3% of people, you are still a good person. It's if you kill 3% of parasitic cells growing inside a person, you can still be a good person. Arguably, that could make you what we call a doctor.

Don't like it? Change the law. Can't change the law? Probably a reason for that.

Seems to me the laws in most European countries are pretty similar to the U.S. - - perhaps even less restrictive in many cases. Ironic that it's legal in Spain and Italy, two very Catholic countries. How can that be?

Being pro-choice is not being pro-abortion.

And if you provide can a link where that law was applied with a 10 week embryo, we can discuss it.
I'd be curious to see how that ruling was applied. I know it has been applied and used when a pregnancy is near term, but I've never heard of its use pre-viability.

You see it one way, I see it another. So we need a third party to mediate; the government. No laws are forcing me to see and live it your way, no laws are forcing you to see and live it my way. The law leaves it up to citizens own conscious. What you see as wrong, and what I see as wrong are two different things, and that ruling body has decided that's the way it should be.

What I'm really saying, is just because you think it's wrong doesn't mean it is. I think ketchup on a hot dog after the age of 18 is morally wrong. So does the national hot dog council. That doesn't mean we get to force others to have that same opinion.

Did you know it was illegal for two different races to marry? Did you know it was once legal to kill a Mormon? Did you know that black and white's were legally segregated. Great. I'm glad you think they're wrong. They've been wrong before, and are still wrong on others. Grasp the concept of footing; the only footing you have is what you think. You'll need more to make change. Don't whine and cry about it on the internet, don't keep getting sting footage of something that sounds terrible to some(especially when records are given happily time and time again from what you see as "questionable" agencies), take it back to the courts. Right now, largely, the only people you're convincing is people that already believe something's wrong. So take it to the supreme court again... waste your money and the taxpayer dollars. We're Americans; Fantastic at wasteful spending!

If you had something truly substantial(scientific method of showing me a soul exists, and exists in an unborn child) perhaps I would listen more. But if there was such evidence, It'd probably be a law too. Much like I have 0 leverage to tell you to go out and get an abortion, you have 0 leverage to lead me to tell people not to.

So there have been differences of opinion on various issues in the past, and there will continue to be differences of opinion in the future. Maybe the day will come at some point in the future when your viewpoint is the prevailing view, and then perhaps laws will change.

Personally I doubt the day will come during my lifetime that the rights of a 10 week embryo would supersede the rights of the woman in whose uterus it resides.

It might be more beneficial if the anti-choice crowd would direct its efforts and money to the development of an artificial uterus to preserve the lives of aborted embryos and fetuses. I guess that would be a win-win.


Then again, it's sort of ironic that many couples who undergo in vitro and are tormented by the idea that so many of their embryos will be destroyed - yet they reject donation of those embryos because they're even more tormented by the idea that there might be genetic children of theirs out in the world.

It's a bit of a conundrum, wouldn't you say?

--Really though, this is a fantastic idea, and there's plenty of $$$'s to be made. 21 weeks is the world record for premature babies @ 1 lb 6 oz. We can't be all THAT far off.
