What's new

Players have conceded to 50 / 50

The players pretty much have to cave. Probably the only real discussion going on here is to balance the needs of the big-market teams and the small-market teams. As much as the players have put on a show, they never had much leverage in these negotiations.

Stern should just throw a couple of small moral victories in the system issues to the players so this thing can get done.

Here is a list of the so called hard line teams:

Washington, Denver, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Indiana, Minnesota, Portland, Oklahoma City, Memphis, Sacramento, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Utah

I find it odd that Phoenix and Cleveland are not on that list. I know that Dan Gilbert has changed his mind and is now has a softer stance on things but he is in the same boat as the rest of those teams. I also find it odd that OKC is on that list.

Today I was talking with someone very close to the team and he told me that the Jazz are not a hard line type team but that they are a fringe hardline type team.

I don't think the Jazz are hardline on 50/50 but I think they are smart enough to work with the other small market teams to try to lower the advantage that large market teams have. If they come out of this with 50/50 or better thats just an added bonus.

agreed. The Jazz are better off not having the 50/50 but holding fast on the system issues that create a better balance for small market teams. I am afraid they are going to fold on the system issues which is a bad deal.

I found the last line interesting. Where they are talking about the players calling for a vote on the owner's proposal. Which seems to indicate that the star players and negotiating committee are losing their support from the people they are representing.

... or is it simply that they feel like the deal is close enough to take a vote? If you're miles apart, no reason, close enough .. go to the masses.
