What's new

Players only meeting.

They have social media pages to organize the gatherings, so these people aren't just randomly meeting in the streets. Luckily most are dumber than a box of rocks. A recent exploit of theirs was trying to use quick dry cement to lock police inside and burn them alive.

Then we have this, Antifa trying to reenact a viking shield wall to stop police.

An example of reverse virtual signaling. There are millions upon millions of black citizens and none of them are like that. The rioters can be nuts, but that doesn't undermine the points of millions of others.

ANY comment degrading someone based on race or skin color is by definition racism. When you bring skin color into the fight you cross a line. If you want change, don't cross the line.

Kenny Smith said it was inappropriate. I concur.

I wouldn't defend calling people racially motivated names. I certainly wouldn't say that it is somehow not racially motivated.

It doesn't compare to shooting someone in the back 7 times from point blank range. Absolutely true. We should be outraged as people. There is history that cannot be dismissed. But if we are going to move on then people need to not cross the line. PEOPLE, not some group of people as defined by skin color. Not white boys or African Americans.

Respect. Don't cross the line.
Well said

Head Coaches and executives from Cleveland’s three major professional sports teams - the Cavaliers, Browns and Indians - are forming a sports alliance to develop a sustainable and direct strategy to address social injustice facing the city of Cleveland and all Northeast Ohio.

I'm 100% for that and good for them.

Indians played yesterday. Cavs and Browns are in the off season.

They did something other than canceling games which literally does nothing.

Why don't you educate me on what I'm missing or what I said that was so moronic.

I'll wait...
NAOS and Cy just want to go around calling people names. I'm starting to think it might be the same person for as much as they piggieback off of each other and talk badly towards people.

I think much of what you said had merit. Some of what everybody has said has had merit. This is a very complicated issue. Starts with not abusing power and treating everybody with the same level of respect.

It's a very complicated issue. There are many examples of racism or police injustice that aren't skewed to drive the message.

I don't think any man should be shot in the back 8 times. I put blame on the police for not arriving at a better resolution. I also blame Blake, who's a rapists, abuser, chronic police fighting jackass that did exactly what no one should do unless they wanna get shot by the cops. It's really not that hard to me. No one wants to mention that and if you do, you're a "moran."

Look back at the election years and race is always a hot topic, fresh on every body's minds. Hmm... I wonder why.

This isn't to say there's not race problems and social injustices, there are.

When people say they have a platform they really mean to say is they're privileged.

Change my mind.

No... I have heard opinions from Kenny, Doc, Shaq, Donovan, Lebron, the Bucks team, Nedum Onuoha, Kaye, and countless other players that I wouldn't have heard if it weren't for sports. I would call that a platform. Post game interviews, twitter comments, videos, etc. I wouldn't tune in frankly if I wasn't watching sports.

100%

Can’t believe the players caved so quickly.
I was really looking forward to to some Jerry Springer type bickering between the owners and players. I just can’t win

Just asked a guy why the protests bother him... it was very much a shut up and dribble type of response. I really think the older generation just ain't gonna get it.

What do ALL of these police shootings have in common? NONE of the suspects listened to or complied with the instructions given by the police. If they had, they wouldn't have gotten shot. The solution then is simple. Respect the police and do what they tell you to do. PERIOD! If you don't agree, you can always LIVE and contest it later. Those police officers want to go home to their families at the end of the day. If they blindly let a non compliant suspect reach into their car, and wait to see if he pulls out a gun, it's too late to react and the gunfight is over. What do people think, that the rules should be that police are only allowed to fire AFTER they've been fired upon? Give me a break! Police have to make split second, oftentimes life and death decisions during rapidly escalating circumstances and then are second guessed by people sitting and in a lounge chair watching the video replayed in slow motion calling the police involved racists and murderers.

Walk a mile in their moccasins and you'll quickly see how difficult their job is.

I don't mind protests, I do mind looting, killing more people and burning down cities and destroying your very own neighbors livelihoods. What we are seeing here is not protesting, it is criminal violence.

We were talking about the players threatening a strike... so not the violent protests you are talking about.
