Players that could be had for Memo TPE

I think Utah will hold on to it until next season. The TPE gives us room to improve after other limits are reached.

Considering KOC's job security, my guess is he's not even thinking of using it on anything but youth. He has no pressure to win now. I trust the guy completely. But if he called me (and I'm very available for this) I would tell him that he needs to take this year and really assess his (read: MY) team. Build around the best players, use the rest as assets.

The great thing is I really think KOC is going to ace this. He's no longer the GM trying to put parts around superstars and appease a coach who has more power than him. He's now the guy who can put any team he wants on the floor. This is what hasn't happened in Jazzland like...ever.

Yep to all of this. Great post, rep'd.

Very true. I'm sure he's felt like his hands were tied and probably was pretty frustrated when he couldn't go after certain players that were available. Look how quick he dealt Deron. Look at the kind of players we've signed so far. Trading Okur had to be hard but it's starting to seem like there's a vision that KOC has. I just wish I knew if we were holding onto the TPE for a bad contract combined with 2012 high draft picks. That's what I'd do, if I were him.

"Thursday's deal also gives the Jazz a trade exception, which Jazz general manager Kevin O'Connor said will "allow us to go shopping.""

I doubt we'll be going for a big man. Probably a SG who can hit 3s. But who knows? Maybe a PG? ;-)

Exactly, that's what I'm thinking. Get a deal like Clevland got for taking on Baron Davis and a pick. Then you could amnesty that player. That's if the Jazz are willing to pay for player that doesn't play for them.
Or look at teams that maybe want to unload someone but is a good player. That way that team could get under the tax

Can't amnesty a player you acquire. So that's out.

Yeah, I'll always be a Sloan fan, but it kinda makes me all warm and fuzzy thinking about what KOC is setting up to do over the next year or two. I've got a really good feeling about this, and I never get good feelings. Ever.

Rajon Rondo. Book it.

Donny Marshall: I don't think it's off the radar yet to say Rondo is going to be with this team for the entire season. I spoke with an agent earlier in the week who said this thing is still hot. To have people pay attention to Rondo's temperment, to see how he goes and plays, to see if he leaves it all out there....

They're still talking about this, about maybe moving Rondo somewhere out west... in a warm spot.

Gary Tanguay: Have we anticipated the location?

Donny Marshall: I think a lot of people would be surprised.

Rando makes 10,045,454 this season.

Oh ****.
