Pleiss Traded to Philly!!!

Guys. This trade is simple.

Tibor sucks donkey balls. We didn't want him on the roster, and didn't want to pay him $3 million. In order to get a non-guaranteed contract that runs out soon, we had to give up a couple 2nd rounders so that Philly would take on Tibor's awful contract.

Kendall Marshall is not going to play here. Pretty simple.

You guys overvalue 2nd rounders. Look at our roster and tell me where realistically any future second rounders could fit in.

So, does anybody want to continue to say that the Kanter trade was even an average deal?

We're gonna end up with a couple 2nd rounders, with a slim chance at a first rounder. Awesome.

Who cares? It was a year and a half ago, move on. Jazz are in an amazing place.

And what we get for the Kanter pick remains to be seen.

So I don't really get into the details of contracts and all that, but couldn't they have just bought out Pleiss? Why trade a player, plus picks, plus money for essentially nothing? We had to pay Philly to take Pleiss?

I'm very confused. I'm gonna go get my morning coffee now.

Possible Reasons:
1. Greg Miller doesnt want to pay 3,450,000 it would take to cut Pleiss
2. The Jazz want the extra 3,000,000 in cap-room this year to rework Favors or Hill's contract.

No, we will get the first rounder this year. OKC will be a 6th-8th seed.

Or we will get it next year, I forget if we can get it this year.

Because they are being cheap. Thats the only reason.

Why do you assume that that cap space has no value?

If we have tossed in the towel on Tibor, why not create cap space? It gives us more choices. The incremental value of the excess 2nd rounders is close to nil when your roster is full and you only have so many players you can focus on developing.

Seems like a solid move, getting out of a commitment to Pleiss, which management clearly regrets at this point.

I lean towards the Jazz having another move in mind. Seems like a lot to give up just to free up 3,000,000 in space. Must be something going on.

I love all the whining about 2nd round picks. I get that some second round picks turn out good, but you need to have space on your roster for them, and Jazz have extra first rounders coming up each of the next 2 years. They still have plenty of second rounders.
