Thanks.

I'm leaning towards 100% something is in the works. Aren't we still below the salary floor? If we are, we just paid money to get even more below the salary floor which would mean Miller would just have to pay even more money out in contract bonuses.
Can someone tell me how to feel?
I'm actually more happy that we aren't making decisions based on sunk costs... one of the biggest issues in business and sports. We gave up value for Tibor, but if it isn't working admit it and move on. So many GMs compound problems by not allowing themselves to admit they were wrong.
It was after Tomic left us at the altar that the Jazz opened up the money bags for Tibor.
Yes... they have value. On draft night they are worth more... If we sold off two picks one of which is likely a late 2nd rounder for 2.5-3M then its fair value for a future asset. The roster spot is also important as another poster noted. That's another chance we have to look at a player now.
I don't love the deal, but I'm realistic in looking at the whole thing. I'd love to have an owner like Balmer that says eff it we will take the hit, extend favors and pay money to preserve the assets. The Millers don't have that kind of cash and I don't think they are nearly as emotionally invested as some of the owners are.
We had to get rid of Kanter. There was no choice. We got what the market would bear. It wasn't much. There's nothing to do but turn the page. So, does anybody want to continue to say that the Kanter trade was even an average deal?
We're gonna end up with a couple 2nd rounders, with a slim chance at a first rounder. Awesome.
OKC viewed him as a prospect... Team #1
Utah viewed him as a prospect... Team #2
He was a prospect.
Porty may have viewed Kanter as a prospect or they were forcing OKC to pay more for him than they should. OKC matched because they valued him there I guess.
Not every 1st or 2nd are worth the same. Because we were able to sell one for 3M doesn't mean that's their value looking into the future. This last draft there were several good projects that fell to the 2nd round. Their value is set on draft night by how much money a particular team is willing to pay when a player drops.
Anyone has any idea how much we paid for the 1st that net us Rudy? it seems it was below 3M
Why does everyone assume that we need to offer Derrick the max to get him to sign an extension? If we up him to 17,5 for the next two years, that would net him 10 million extra over the next two years. 17,5/17,5/Max/Player option for the 4th year with a max salary would be extremely hard to turn down. He gets another 10 million dollars, one more year at the max, while only agreed to one more year. We get him for the additional year without having to use all our cap space on him.
