By the way, for those keeping score, the Jazz are currently sitting in the negative for what they received in the Kanter trade. Since the last asset(s) is yet to be determined or realized, the Jazz are currently down the >$3 million they spent on Pleiss, two second rounders, and whatever money they flushed down the toilet to pay Grant Jerrett and buyout Kendrick Perkins.

Maybe a single damn thing from this trade ends up benefiting the team or the bottom line soon. You know, besides simply being rid of that dumb ****ing baby Enes Kanter.

2nd round picks have been worth millions for a while. Getting three million in a late second-round pick swap seems insane even to me, but it also speaks to the market. A pick isn't changing hands for anything less than a million if we're talking strictly money and no other assets.

I'm not convinced the Jazz got $3M to swap picks. The total limit is $3-4 million and it was also reported that they got >$2 million in the Diaw trade. I'd like to see this reported by a reputable source before I believe it.

If the Jazz would have just cut Pleiss, we would have owed him $3 Million over the next year. By accepting K. Marshall in the negotiations we saved ourselves of the $3 million contract owed to Pleiss. We took Marshall who was owed $2 Million (un-guaranteed) by any team to keep him past a due date that is near and upcoming, the Jazz released him well before that date. (Just 30 minutes after the trade).

Clarification from Locke: the $3 million for 2nd round pick swap counts against the 2015-16 limit of $3.4 million

The $2+ million we got in the Diaw trade counts against the 2016-17 limit of $3.5 million. So we have 0.5-1.5 million cash remaining we can get in trades later this year including next year's draft.

Yes but if we don't pay him he doesn't count towards the cap... If we are at the salary floor cutting some salary doesn't make a lot of sense.

I bet you cannot find a single source, not even the dumbest message board poster, who called what we got for Kanter a "haul." Everybody knew he destroyed whatever trade value he had. Anybody who wanted Kanter simply needed to offer a bag of peanuts to the Jazz, or wait until he was a free agent and pick him up for nothing.

Is your facts based on a message board? State the facts as they were, to hell with a message board. Kanter had told the Jazz in December of 2014 that he wanted a trade. The Jazz didn't even shop him (per DL & KOC). On February 11th Enes wanted to be traded, that is why we traded him for nothing. Wasn't because he wasn't worth receiving and asset in return, he was. We chose to do nothing until the trade deadline where we received nothing in exchange. If you support that, no comment. Your lack of demand for a sense of urgency speaks for itself and fans like you remain to be the problem. You will continue to go on to support every bad decision that the Jazz Front Office makes.
