Point Forward's perspective on Jefferson

the team efficiency when we funnel the offense through al is basically right in line with the AVERAGE
Almost certainly not. Al takes virtually all his shots in the halfcourt, and still hits at roughly team average efficiency. I'd imagine the team shoots a much higher percentage in transition than in the halfcourt. Team O was considerably better with Al on the court than off (111.2 v. 101.3 points per 100 possessions), and Al's ability to score in the halfcourt, especially off isos late in the clock/when the offense broke down, is a big reason why.

I agree with everything except what is in bold print. There is no way Boozer is a better defender. They are the same when it comes pick'n roll defense, and Boozer gets dominated in one on one in post play. Boozer has the athletic ability to play good one on one and pick'n roll defense but doesn't even care. I do feel Al try's at times.

Perhaps I was ranting a bit when I threw in that whole thing about Boozer (because Boozer was an awful defender) but even if Al tries occasionally, it doesn't change the fact that he is still a terrible, lazy defender (as was Boozer.) And I do agree with theNBANerd that Boozer was a better help defender. There is no reason that your starting PF should have 4 or5 fouls coming into the fourth quarter and your backup PF has 4 or 5, while your starting C is has 0. It drove me crazy watching Al move out of the way and simply watch while the opponent got an easy dunk or lay up. Worse than Boozer.... maybe not. But he is definitely not better.

boozer's help D was better, believe it or not.

but that's moot. my thing on the al debate is the same - the team efficiency when we funnel the offense through al is basically right in line with the AVERAGE, and defensively they actually improve when al sits down. so al basically gives us very little, except for blocking the progress of young lotto picks.

This.

we wouldnt need the late in the clock chuck up shot if it didnt go to big al as much. the guy would kill offense sometimes. harris would thow the ball into him when there was 15 on the clock and after all backed down a bit, did a few ball fakes, pump faked twice then decided to either shoot or pass the clock was down to 3 or 4 seconds.. i think we have all seen that happen about 4 times a game.. it just made the offense Stagnant, none of the jazz players knew what al was going to do. i think the gerble turning the wheels in al's brain was still trying to figure it out.

Yet the Jazz offense still put up 111.2 points per 100 possessions when Al was on the court...

If Al is on the Jazz beyond the 12/13 season, there's a damn good chance I'll be shopping for another team. I don't need to bend the truth to come to that conclusion.

Are you complimenting Al's defense?

name your top 5 alternative teams

hahaha.. those are all bandwaggin treams. i think its better to be known as a jazz fan with al stuck in the first round jefferson, then be a team juper to one of those.
