Police Power and Racial Tensions in Ferguson, Missouri

Welcome to America where you can kill a dog & end up in prison for 35 years, but when you kill a Black person you walk away with $500k.

Mike Vick's dogs from the dogfighting ring got more compassion than Mike Brown.

**** THE POLICE **** MISSOURI

Missouri racist officials call in the National Guard to help protect the community members from dangerous looters and rioters, but they decided to let the buildings burn and send them after the peaceful protesters

My hope is that you are never of a victim of a crime and that you need help from law enforcement because you'll have no one to call.

I haven't heard that one before! Let me re-evaluate everything I think about a human having free reign to murder someone because they are a cop, and having the court system rigged to allow them to continually do so - or a government founded on racial discrimination, that continues to strip certain people of human rights let alone legal rights.

I don't have a problem reconciling the two. Neither should you.

Neither do I, but I'd like people the public can trust in those positions (which is currently less than 3%). As it stands now, it's just a bunch of money-grubbing, self-serving scum.

How'd you come to that number? Did you just pull it out of your butt like with most of your comments?

MLK on riots:

Let me say as I've always said, and I will always continue to say, that riots are socially destructive and self-defeating. I'm still convinced that nonviolence is the most potent weapon available to oppressed people in their struggle for freedom and justice. I feel that violence will only create more social problems than they will solve. That in a real sense it is impracticable for the Negro to even think of mounting a violent revolution in the United States. So I will continue to condemn riots, and continue to say to my brothers and sisters that this is not the way. And continue to affirm that there is another way.

But at the same time, it is as necessary for me to be as vigorous in condemning the conditions which cause persons to feel that they must engage in riotous activities as it is for me to condemn riots. I think America must see that riots do not develop out of thin air. Certain conditions continue to exist in our society which must be condemned as vigorously as we condemn riots. But in the final analysis, a riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it that America has failed to hear? It has failed to hear that the plight of the Negro poor has worsened over the last few years. It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met. And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice, equality, and humanity. And so in a real sense our nation's summers of riots are caused by our nation's winters of delay. And as long as America postpones justice, we stand in the position of having these recurrences of violence and riots over and over again. Social justice and progress are the absolute guarantors of riot prevention.

The 'riots' in Ferguson because of the police aggression on the initial protests, as well as the one following McCulloch's announcement, were no different than the 'riots' in San Francisco after the Giants won it all, or countless college campuses after a national title where cars are flipped and things are burned. They're just covered differently by the main stream media in order to attract ratings and clicks (easier to sell violent, crazed, dangerous mob rioting than excitable sports fans).

What bugs me the most about these trigger-happy cops is that in many cases the aggressor did not have a gun. A cop shouldn't gun someone down unless his own life is at risk. Can't they just shoot the guy in his leg and arrest him or something>

Or use a taser, or train their donut-eating fat assess some taekwondo or self defense against unarmed assailants?

Either way, the pig defenders say it's not possible to train the actual pigs to know how to aim at someones leg.
